Turning the Magic of Life
Into Something Useful
The Earth itself is the central feature of our material existence. Without it we have nothing to stand on ... and no place to live, at least not in the way of life as we know it. Maybe that very fact is part of the paradox of spiritual beings in a physical world ... like some grand experiment in the Cosmos. (If anybody remembers actually signing on for this journey, please let me know where so I can take a different turn next time the line forms.)
Along with its many and undisputed delights, material living imposes all sorts of limitations, frustrations, rules, and restraints. Our continued existence here requires that we learn those boundaries ... and honor them. Fair enough. Probably all realms of being have some absolute conditions associated with them. But along with its structure, its features, its sheer physicality ... Earth element has a heaviness ... which translates as the force of gravity, and a slowness ... which seems to translate into the experience of time.

The Uneasy Truce
Fire and Earth as Zodiac Neighbors
Fire element urges action ... often with a "Do something even if it's wrong" mentality. It's an impatient and usually reckless attitude that other signs find exasperating ... even irrational. Especially Earth element. Fire element doesn't think, doesn't analyze, and is clearly scared to death that "He who hesitates is lost"... may turn out to be a prime directive of the Cosmos. Fire element wants to hit the ground running, seize the day, take the plunge ... and acts as if risks and rewards are a divinely blessed alliance. Fire element wants action now; it wants results now. Consequences? It never heard the word.

So What Does Compatible Mean to You?
Getting Along with the Zodiac Signs
Every astrologer hears the question: What signs am I compatible with? The person asking wants a list of three or four answers they can count on ... often to solve problems much larger than just a cluster of incompatible associates. Some of the misapplications of astrology suggest there are such lists ... and easy answers. There aren't. In astrology, as in life, broad categories and generalizations ... may not be worth much. Also, a lot depends on what you want ... what "compatible" means to you.

Considering Fire
Life's Animating Element
All the elements have their "unique" qualities. For Fire element, one of these is that it needs fuel ... and that it can be extinguished. In this material world, the other three elements -- earth, air and water, exist -- as givens. Earth exists, solid and endless. It underlies the oceans. It supports life on land. Nowhere, really are you beyond it unless you choose to temporarily leave the surface by artificial means -- and even then, you have to return to Earth, eventually.
Water can change forms from liquid to solid to vapor, and while there are places on Earth where it is certainly scarce, it is truly available in such abundance in so many places. There's more water on the surface of the Earth than there is dry land. It surges and churns in the restless tides of the ocean. It pools on the surface of the inlands in lakes and ponds. It flows in rivers like life-blood running through veins. It hides in underground reservoirs and springs. It saturates the air with clouds and rain. Water, too ... just is.

A Spiritual Approach to Astrology
By
Myrna Lofthus
Today, Mars, newly arrived in Aries, comes square to Pluto, finally in Capricorn to stay a while. The last time this combination strolled onstage was in the 1760s and 70s. Yes, the years of growing discontent in the American colonies that finally erupted in the Revolutionary war. In fact the most recent time Mars in Aries squared Pluto in Capricorn was around the 20th of April, 1776 -- literally within shouting distance of July 4 and the birth of the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson formally began writing that document in June.
So, with a new climate of political change and unrest frothing away in the innards of government now (and yes, again!!), it will be interesting to see what the hard aspects between these two foretell in the dozen-plus years of Pluto's saunter through Capricorn that lie ahead of us now.

Back to Basic Elements ... and Qualities
When I first began to study Astrology, I would often hit some boring, hair-splitting piece of trivia in a book I'd bought where an author seemed to go on and on, enthralled with what I considered perfectly useless stuff. Dyads and dwads, for instance. Minor aspects -- like the biquintile, for another. The symbolism of the glyphs. Things that seemed so far removed from what I wanted Astrology to teach me that I'd wind up really annoyed these authors were taking up so much ink, paper ... and page thicknesses in books I'd hoped would contain more meat ... droning endlessly about this stuff I certainly wasn't taken with in the least.
For a time, the subject of elements and qualities fell in that category, too. I'd hit those topics, yawn and think, "Who cares?" ... and turn pages until I got past all that and into something more interesting -- more relevant to the characteristics and interests of the signs themselves. I've since decided I was wrong to dismiss those two topics so easily. (Although I'm still not one bit impressed by those others I mentioned.)

The New Moon in Taurus
Taurus Energy in the Creative Process
As the Moon in Aries wanes and moves steadily toward renewal by joining again with the Sun, now in Taurus, there is a corresponding shift in the focus of energy on earth away from the initiations, new beginnings, pioneering efforts, "planting seeds" that dominated last month's experiences. Taurus energy is the next step in the year-long creative process of growth and evolution. It's the next increment of development after the exuberant declaration of existence.

Mars in Aries
With Mars in Aries, people are adventurous, pioneering, and assertive. Their attitudes are independent and aggressive. They show initiative, are competitive, and respond well to a "direct approach." This energy is "active," driven and self-promoting. It is very "up-front and honest" about its goals and desires ... and is willing to go directly after results.

What Does the Future Hold?
If you were born with the Sun in Taurus
A real astrology forecast
if you were born with the Sun in Taurus
What does the future hold if you were born with the Sun in Taurus? Here is a brief synopsis of the major themes unfolding in your life now. The earlier you were born in the sign of Taurus (during the last 1/3 of April), the more likely you will see these opportunities and changes underway for you now. If you were born very late in the sign of Taurus, it may take a while for these to become apparent in ways you can recognize and relate to ... but they are happening, nevertheless.

Happy Birthday, Taurus!!
Books & CDs by Enchanted Spirit:

Circle of Life
By
Rebecca BrentsHappy Birthday, Taurus!! You are the birthday child this month. So settle back in your easy chair. Arrange some comfy pillows all around you. Get your remote control where you can reach it easily when you're done with this. Got something to drink? A snack or two close at hand? How 'bout some background music? How about a bit of incense, or a scented candle to freshen the air? You do love your sensory pleasures, after all. And you don't need something as special as a birthday for an excuse to indulge yourself, but it helps.
If "enthusiastic" and "active" are words to describe Taurus, then the ones to describe Taurus are "laid back" and "easy going." It seems that each new sign kind of rebels against the excesses of the one before -- striking its own entirely different theme upon arrival. So while Taurus pushes, moves and initiates ... in contrast to the quiet, dreamy, visionary personal aura and energy of Pisces ... Taurus energy likes to mellow out, and take life at a measured stride and on its own time schedule.
Happy Birthday, Taurus!!
YOU are the Birthday Child this month!

The Aries-to-Taurus Cusp Born Person
April 16 to April 20
The energetic, spirited, bold, colorful, cantankerous Aries-to-Taurus person will have a gentle, persistent, and luxury-loving side to his character. He will have his notoriously assertive and pushy Aries character tempered (sometimes unexpectedly so) by the steadier, less impulsive, more patient, and, ...ok, kinder qualities of Taurus.

Who Will You Be in the Future, Aries?
Astrology and Your Future Life
Based on Your Karmic Past and Present
Well, enjoy the ruckus while it lasts. Life in the future will be calmer, less lively, lots more laid-back. The Creative Process itself has a rhythm that moves from one extreme back toward the center again -- always looking for those conditions and qualities that restore balance. As an Aries, you engage life with an attitude of all-out exuberance and passion. Your zest can seem downright ferocious, even belligerent to those who don't share your fresh perspectives -- or who prefer their characters a little more, ... well, restrained. You'll be one of them someday, believe it or not.

Warrior Energy in the World
The Value of Aries in Life's Grand Scheme
Describing Aries as the embodiment of individual Warrior energy may make this rambunctious personality sound hostile and pugnacious, and there's no doubt Aries can be quite a handful -- for anyone. Aries is not shy about standing up for himself, and rather than avoiding conflict or trying to "make nice" and smooth over rough spots in his behavior with others he's surprisingly quick to take on confrontation with a show of strength and get a problem sorted out by force if necessary.

Keeping Your Date with the Devil
Independence and Courage -- Aries style
One big theme of Aries energy is self-identity: having the power and privilege to know yourself and be yourself But following through on this essential bit of personal freedom takes courage. No kidding. It comes under fire virtually from the moment we hit the deck. People start trying to change you into something else. Something that suits them ... and their ideas about who and what you should be. Something that's at least more convenient for them to deal with.

Aries and Ambition
Speak of the Daredevil
They say Aries is impulsive. They say Aries is brave. It's true, a lot of virtues that fall squarely in the "pioneering" camp are on everyone's catalog of Aries' virtues. Enterprising, self-confident, resourceful, competitive, dynamic. An Aries himself can get puffed up enough just reading through this list to think he's a virtual powerhouse in motion.
The fact is, all signs stay busy. Every living soul fills up his allotted minutes every day. Aries is no different. He just knows how to attract attention, show off his independence ... and set something new in motion. The freshness and energy behind his famous initiative is what builds his reputation.

Who Were You in a Past Life, Aries?
What does Astrology say about your Karma?
Compared to the pace of life today -- where there's always something going on, some kind of action rolling out, excitement for you to handle or entertainment for you to enjoy, life in the past was quieter, more placid ... and your own focus much more contemplative.
This is not to say the times in which you lived weren't turbulent. They may well have been. But a calm center of spiritual peace and tranquility in you provided a serene oasis of strength, and a perspective on the world, your life and your place in both that was extraordinarily wise. Here in this safe inner world you found your genuine home.

Living an Aries Life
Aries folks may remember when they were kids and the world seemed intent on squashing every bit of energy and individuality they were brave enough to show. Being irrepressibly ourselves ... which came so naturally ... wasn't something the rest of the world seemed to revel in like we did. I remember lots of scowls, criticism and anger ... and many clear messages that I was not at all what my parents expected from a little girl.

Venus in Pisces
Retrograding Venus has dipped back into the last degree of Pisces for a week. It won't get any further back than that, however. Venus turns direct Friday afternoon, ending this stint of "reconsidering" the place of relationships ... and our management of $$$ in our lives.
As a practical matter, this brief return to Pisces may not amount to much. But metaphorically, the final degree of Pisces is the most critical point of transition in the whole Zodiac, so changes, decisions, actions and events that happen in Venusian ruled matters this week may have deep Karmic roots ... and a particularly "fated" quality in what derives as a result.

The Full Moon
The Full Moon formed today around 9 in the morning Mountain Time. The Libra Moon opposing the Aries Sun.
In astrology, an opposition between the Sun and the Moon always indicates a hyper-sensitive situation, where emotions are on full display, and "other people" are more easily able to jerk your strings and get on your nerves. It's also a situation where options are more readily available -- but so are ambivalence and confusion.
The Full Moon between the Aries Sun and the Libra Moon brings this situation front and center in ways that aren't always comfortable. The energy of the Aries Sun is assertive, competitive, forceful, and independent. The energy of the Libra Moon is cooperative, sociable, concerned with other people, and wants everything to be "nice."

How to Get Along with Aries
There's one sure way to get along with Aries -- don't get in his way. Aries is not patient. Those four words are a masterpiece of understatement. Aries hates delays. He hates excuses -- about why something wasn't done ... or can't be done ... or won't be done. In fact, he may take that as a challenge to show the speaker just how wrong he is.) Aries hates to be bored. He hates restrictions ... and above all, he hates standing around just wasting time.

Some Astrologers call Fire Signs independent. Others call them self-absorbed and selfish. In fact, both opinions are right. One set of qualities is just the flip side of the other. The warriors, entrepreneurs, explorers and pioneers that act on their Fire Sign energy have the ambition -- and courage -- to blaze new trails, explore new territory, launch new ventures ... and take risks that make the more timid (and yes, self-protective) signs remember appointments they're late for across town -- and maybe in the next county.

Alive and Well With Pluto: Transits of Power and Renewal
By
Bil Tierney
Transiting Pluto -- both direct and retrograde -- depicts the loooooong-term process of tearing down and improving things that are worn out, exhausted, inappropriate, obsolete, ineffective and falling into ruin.
Pluto stays in a sign anywhere from 12 to 36 years. It will be in Capricorn about 16 years all told. The cultural, social, political and personal life changes that unfold under its tenure move at a slow, relentless pace. Changes are sometimes protracted ... imperceptible ... as tension builds and builds (like that along the geological fault lines in earthquake country), and then a riotous convulsion leaves behind a completely altered landscape.
All planetary energies work on all these levels, of course, but Pluto's craftsmanship in retrospect is always so impressive. Pluto's last transit through Capricorn saw the successful conclusion of the American Revolution in 1776 ... and the subsequent establishment of a new form of government in a country that ultimately figured in huge amounts of world history.
The next 15 years are set to unveil something equally momentous. I keep remembering that old Chinese curse ... "May you live in interesting times." Well, folks ... these next two decades will indeed be "interesting times."

What Does the Future Hold?
If you were born with the Sun in Aries
A real astrology forecast
if you were born with the Sun in Aries
What does the future hold if you were born with the Sun in Aries? Here is a brief synopsis of the major themes unfolding in your life now. The earlier you were born in the sign of Aries (during the last 1/3 of March), the more likely you will see these opportunities and changes underway for you now. If you were born very late in the sign of Aries, it may take a while for these to become apparent in ways you can recognize and relate to ... but they are happening, nevertheless.
- Opportunities to expand your social and professional network -- and increase the scope of long-term goals.
- However, work ... of the often grinding and thankless variety ... is also a major feature this year.
- A desire for more personal independence is becoming an increasing, insistent theme. But it remains in the background for now.
- Dreams and visions (and fantasies and daydreaming) of goals you want to achieve "someday" ... are prominent.
- A major shift in your career direction and public life involvements has begun, but it will take more than a decade to really see -- let alone appreciate -- the scope of what's happening here for you now.
