The roots of Western astrology -- the occult discipline many know at least casually, and many practice with dedication -- reach far back in time to origins in ancient Mesopotamia. The early practice of what has become Astrology was mostly a study of celestial signs, omens seen in the positions of the stars ... but the conclusions (and predictions such as they were) gained from this was applied almost exclusively to the future and fate of society -- the fortunes of the group.
