Well, Jupiter in Scorpio has formed a trine with Uranus in Pisces, an event that happened without much fanfare, but which promises "major stuff" for everyone over the next year. (Those slow-building, long-term changes ... my, how their results last!!) This is not what I'd call a "rare" occurrence ... everyone will go through several of these episodes in a normal lifetime, but it's not common by any means. The next Jupiter / Uranus trine, for example, will be the separating trine between Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries in 2014 / 2015.

There are actually two different kinds of trines ... approaching trines and separating trines ... and subtle but important differences between what they bring to life. The present one ... between Jupiter in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces is an approaching trine. The next approaching trine will be a very fast-moving one between Jupiter in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus late in December 2019. So you see what I mean when I say ... it's not a common thing.

If anyone wants to know more about the difference between approaching trines and separating trines ... just ask. I'll be happy to explain it ... but for most people it will be boring, boring, boring. So I'm not going to put the effort into it unless somebody really cares. Ok, ok, that's the end of today's technical astrology lesson.

Because this configuration is so infrequent, it may help to understand exactly what each placement indicates ... and what it shows Life is offering you. (Or ... in some cases what you feel Life is "doing to you.") So because this influence lasts a while ... and has actually been part of the background in your life for several months ... we're going to take this a piece at a time, to define the components ... and then knit them together in a "developing picture" of what this significant time (with all its Karmic implications) means for you.
