A square is an angle between the location of two planets in a horoscope approximately 90 degrees apart, + / - 8 to 10 degrees. Planets in this position are roughly at right angles to one another in the circle of the horoscope chart. The planets situated this way are considered to be in a difficult and challenging position, each seeming to block, impede, frustrate and hinder the complete or positive expression of the other and what it represents in a person's character -- or in the situation the chart depicts. Squares represent energies, characteristics or elements that compete with or are simply "at odds" with one another.
