In Astrology, Venus represents your social self, the way you work with relationships, the responsive side of your romantic soul, and the way you handle money. Venus represents your power to attract love and conduct relationships; your need for money and pleasure; your involvement with income, possessions and material "things:" what you look for in relationships, what you offer another person as a partner; what you really enjoy and take pleasure in, and your abstract "values."

With Venus in Taurus, people are affectionate, placid, dependable, and conservative in their relationships. They emphasize qualities like compassion, devotion, loyalty, stability, patience and kindness in the methods they use to attract love - and express the romantic side of their natures in calm but generous gestures . . . often involving gifts or offerings involving "money."

In Astrology, Jupiter represents your philosophical and ethical structures; your ability to claim and express your authoritative knowledge - often through teaching others by the example of your own life. Scorpio is an energy that encourages profitable investments with other people.

With Jupiter in Scorpio, the cooperative climate that prevailed so nicely during Jupiter's transit through Libra has brought up a number of significant points, involving both agreement and disagreement -- ones that won't be easily swept aside any more. So confronting their sometimes disturbing truths becomes a necessary part of personal growth.

Oppositions are an aspect of blockage, frustration, and challenge. They represent the tension you must handle when other people's needs and agendas (particularly those in your close partnerships) conflict directly and sharply with your own. As the very description in the word suggests, oppositions represent a power struggle between two antagonistic agendas in your life ... yours -- and someone else's.

Oppositions contain elements of "disowned qualities" which other people are forcing you to confront and reintegrate into your character and life strategies. They can be very uncomfortable and upsetting as "in reality" it may look and feel like somebody else is forcing you to respond in ways that are not comfortable or characteristic for you. But an analysis of the actual dynamics of the situation will show you are trying to accommodate two conflicting (and possibly mutually exclusive) needs ... one that is familiar to you, and one that's not.

Oppositions, therefore, mark a time of growth and diversification in your life ... and if you know enough, are wise enough, and / or patient enough to really observe what is going on, your antagonist is showing you the personal qualities you need to develop and fortify in your own character in order to be more complete, more effective, and possibly better able to defend yourself in similar experiences in the future.
