Astrology in Present Life and Present Time
Part 1

In Astrology and for various reasons, there are exceptional celestial patterns -- called aspects -- among the planetary symbols astrologers use to forecast coming trends and events. Sometimes these are notable because the aspects themselves are rare; sometimes, because they occur in conjunction with or show a distinct influence on one another in ways that are worth attention.
When these especially interesting moments occur, I often write a detailed analysis of what's happening, what to expect, and what kind of schedule or timeline will unfold in the "results" that these patterns foretell. Such essays are a written record of the "look ahead" I used to do for myself, close friends and family members. These are published and available now to our Premium Members. We invite you to become one.

Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Aquarius
June 2009 - March 2010
When Jupiter is conjunct to Neptune, your artistic sensitivities are heightened ... and so are your intuitive and psychic abilities. You interest in spiritual matters increases and takes on a religious tone. You are looking to expand your philosophical / mystical foundations and may be drawn to associates who can both help you in this effort ... and profit from the results themselves. Your imagination is activated ... but the practical support to make productive use of this needs to be around from elsewhere in the chart before you're likely to do much with it.

The Mystic Rectangle
The Full Moon in Scorpio
May 2009
If you have Natal Chart placements near the range of 18 - 26° of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius -- or to a lesser extent, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces ... the next few weeks may bring some extra challenges -- aggravated by the fact that you're pretty tired of dealing with a constant stream of "stuff" already. As always, the location by sign and house of these extra Natal placements will show the players in the current drama for you -- and what's happening where and why.
Wherever this complex pattern of challenging aspects falls in your Natal Chart you are looking for balance (and relief!!) ... over an unusually wide range of concerns.

Twelve Faces of Saturn: Your Guardian Angel Planet
By
Bil Tierney
When an aspect forms between planets that make one contact with each other, then with one element in retrograde form the aspect again, and finally form the aspect for the last time when the faster-moving of the pair finally turns direct and moves on down the road, we can either get a lengthy time of benevolent help and progress, (if the aspect is a conjunction, sextile or trine) ... or a protracted period of misery and upset (if the aspect is a square or opposition.)
It's like a symphony, which opens with a relatively simple statement of theme ... which develops for a while, then winds around on itself and restates the theme -- this time with complications and embellishments. And finally, after side-trips, flourishes and considerable mucking around ... restates the musical theme and melody for a final time, in all its splendid and intricate grandeur. Right now, with this aspect, we're in the middle of the show. We've gotten a real good taste of what this experience will be about. Now, the experience gets more intense ... and interesting.
If you're interested, you can read what I wrote about it the first time around (back in mid-November) in this piece, published now on the website.

Mythic Astrology: Archetypal Powers in the Horoscope
By
Ariel Guttman, Kenneth Johnson
Well, I suppose it's time to talk about the Saturn / Uranus opposition that went exact last Tuesday -- for the first time. We were, of course, working with the opening chords of this energy for several months in advance of the actual contact ... and since Saturn will retrograde -- and make this aspect again and again before moving on, we'll be treated to the full-symphony effect of it over the next couple of years. And, as with important moments in the past, we're going to talk about this over several issues of Step by Step ... because I've got a lot to say on the subject -- and one sitting just ain't enough.
My, oh, my. Saturn -- the metaphor for stability and permanence ... and Uranus -- the metaphor for revolution and radical change. Facing off across a no-man's-land where "compromise" between their demands is absolutely essential -- and yet is just a fleeting hope. Does that, or does that not give you chills? Both these planets are heavy-hitters when it comes to Karmic lessons -- and in this opposition aspect, they are not one bit happy with one another right now. So, it's important to understand what's happening, what it means, what to look for, and what it's trying to teach us.

Getting Through the One-Two Punch
Of Mercury opposing Neptune
And Mars opposing Uranus
Summer 2008
Mercury opposes Uranus in late August -- which may be a time when you find out things you need to know to make good choices. It may be a time when other options suddenly appear. It may also be a time when relationships rupture because people simply disappear (or lose interest in whatever you've got going on) ... and the less you are left "holding the bag" on semi-permanent plans you've made that depended on the cooperation of other folks, the better you will like it.

In Astrology, certain combinations, concentrations, or alignments of planets indicate unusual energy is available -- and influencing particular interests in life. Saturn in Gemini square Uranus in Pisces
June 1999 to May 2001
Ninety degrees of distance between two points (or two planets in this case) forms the horizontal / vertical intersection of a right angle -- that familiar sharp corner of a square. Hence ... the name.
Some angles that the planets form with one another represent compatible energies and circumstances are easy, pleasant, and fun. Like the G.E. commercial says, they bring good things to life. As you may have guessed, a square is not one of these. You can find more information on the meaning of a square aspect at this link:
Definition of a Square in Astrology
For our purposes, let's just say that planets in square aspect irritate each other. They represent two components of your personality, two parts of your inner family, that, like children, suddenly decide that they each need your full attention on their issues, their needs, and what's going on with them.
Since no one can serve two masters, this obviously isn't going to happen. Even in Astrology, you can't be in two places at once. So, again, like children who aren't getting enough time and care to satisfy them, these personality components whine, complain, cause trouble, kick up a fuss, snipe at each other in resentment, and generally make you as uncomfortable as they can so that you will notice them.

Jupiter in Gemini
Trines Neptune in Aquarius
Trines are associated with what most people call "luck" ... that wonderful discovery that you're in the right place at the right time, and now the world's bounty has opened up to you in the most marvelous ways. Luck itself is often the happy collision between preparation and potential ... and while "luck" in the accidental sense was not in any way involved here, this trine Jupiter made to Neptune on April 5, 2001, is an extremely fine one.
Jupiter, presently in Gemini, indicates a heightened focus on communication, information, exposure to "deeper knowledge" or "greater wisdom," and a more eclectic slant to what is both sought and offered ... bringing in cross-cultural ideas and even international perspectives. Translation: you're looking around for novelty, innovative interests meant to dazzle and delight, whatever strikes your fancy ... and when it comes to subject matter ... hey, pretty much anything goes!!

The Eclipse at 0° of Cancer
June 21, 2001
The New Moon, called a Lunation by astrologers, occurs when the Sun and Moon occupy the same sign, degree, and minute of arc in the Zodiac. A Lunation always casts emphasis at the point where it occurs and in the House of a person's Natal Chart that particular degree of the Zodiac occupies.
If the Lunation point forms angles with a person's Natal Planets, that month will be especially significant in the person's life, but regardless the matters of the House itself will always be highlighted for attention.
