Concerning Things of Value
Venus
Ruler of Taurus
Symbol of Your Financial Self
Venus, shrouded in clouds when photographed, named for the mythological goddess of love, often seen as the evening star, sometimes mistaken for a UFO ... they say. This is the astrological metaphor which symbolizes an individual's social self, his need and capacity to form relationships, the feminine side of his romantic soul -- and, therefore, descriptive of the kind of love he both offers and wants to receive.
It is also the inner self which deals with the material world, the world of the senses, and thus represents one's aesthetic sensibilities, connections to culture and art, and involvement with all physical resources including money and possessions.

Venus
Ruler of Libra
Symbol of Your Social Self
In the broadest sense of the term, Venus deals with "values" ... abstract, tangible, personal, emotional, financial, sensual, social. In other words, Venus is involved with one's earthy, temporal, mundane values -- as shown by the way you acquire, manipulate, respond to and spend material resources, and the values you apply and look for in the partners you acquire. It is the inner self that describes you in terms of "what you love" and "how you sustain and support yourself." In that way, it represents how you attract what you need to survive.

What Does Venus Represent in Your Natal Chart?
Along with the Moon, Venus shows a great deal about the way a person expresses feminine energy in his or her character. Venus is never more than 2 signs away from your Sun. Thus, with its position in your Solar Returns throughout your life, it shows its function as a useful asset in your friendships, your artistic and charitable impulses, your personal interest in forming social relationships, your ability to supply yourself with life's goods and treasures, and your ability to gracefully communicate yourself and your personal reality to others.

What Does Venus Represent in Your Natal Chart?

In the Company of the Goddess
The planet Venus as a symbol in Astrology represents our sense of beauty and comfort, the way we deal with money and issues of physical support, and the way we manage our close relationships. It is, therefore, an important indicator of our personal values. Notice the "value" we place on all the things just listed. Venus is always relatively close to the Sun ... and, in fact, is never more than 45 degrees away from the Sun, but the location of Venus relative to the Sun can, in and of itself, be an interesting clue to the personality described in a Natal Chart.

Venus and Mars
The Romeo and Juliet of the Zodiac
Venus as the Ruler of Libra represents your power to attract love and conduct relationships. By sign and house, it gives information about what you look for in relationships and what you offer another person as a partner. The sign qualities and house position of Venus in your Natal Chart tells an astrologer the way you share love and affection ... and the type of people you enjoy doing this with.

About Venus
As the ruler of Libra, it is the metaphor for partnership needs, marriage styles, relationship management, and the way one attracts and works with allies and other important people -- basically the human support systems any life needs for protection, companionship, and help.

40 Days and 40 Nights in the Arms of Venus
Venus, the planet, goes retrograde (backwards) less frequently than Mercury, about every 18 months, and the cycle lasts 40 days. Because it is less frequent, it is more difficult to understand and wreaks more havoc than a Mercury retrograde transit. Mercury affects communication. Venus affects possessions, relationships, women's issues and most of all values. Venus asks, "What is it that you really value?"

The Nature of Your Desires
The Astrology of Venus Retrograd
Venus has been making eclipses through the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius for two thousand years and is now about halfway through. When sociable Venus teams up with the chatty signs of Gemini and Sagittarius, the question is likely to be, "What is it you really want?" Venus rules our desire nature, how we express ourselves as women or what we are looking for in a woman.
