Sun in Aquarius sextile Mars in Aries
January 2002
by Rebecca Brents

The Sun in Aquarius is now sextile to Mars in Aries ... a nice aspect of progress and productivity that will last more than three weeks before it starts to diminish. Sextiles represent moments of opportunity and insight, moments when the energy of both the planets can be put to beneficial use, stimulated by the assets and qualities of one another. Here's what the aspect looks like on paper.

Aquarius energy under pressure is renowned for its explosive, unpredictable, and often exaggerated reactions. It is most definitely an energy to handle with care.
Fortunately at the moment, Mars -- the astrological metaphor for action and initiative, is perfectly primed to help all these wonderful changes happen for you. It's placed in Aries ... where action and ideas are ... content deleted ... This material and contemporary forecasts are available by subscription in our Premium Members site. Notice there are a couple of caveats in what I just said, however. Neither of these energies deals with frustration quietly -- or calmly. This is not a combination that will sit and gently seethe under pressure. If it gets upset, everyone in a five mile radius will hear its complaints ... and rue the moment this feisty dynamo spun into high gear.
Take a close look now at what you want to accomplish with this energy. You've got plenty of time to accomplish things that contain this wonderfully productive force as part of its "natal chart." And when you're ready to act, don't dawdle. This energy won't be any kinder to your hindrances than to those from outside conditions. It's also a fairly rare aspect, this Aquarius Sun / Aries Mars combination. A quick look back through time turned up January, 1955, as the last time it happened. So ... take a deep breath, and get going.

In other news
The Moon moves into Cancer very late tonight -- or in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow, depending on where you are in the country. (1:17 AM EST -- Saturday morning, January 26, 10:17 PM PST -- Friday evening, January 25)
With Moon in Cancer, people express their feelings benevolently, empathetically, and sensitively. This energy is very nurturing, compassionate, "maternal," benevolent, protective, and sentimental. There is extra emphasis on caution, tradition, intuition, instinct, sympathy, and deep emotional needs.
It is a good time to focus on your moods and impulses, to pay attention to the messages of your subconscious mind, and to be aware of issues and matters at work in your emotional center.
It is also a good time to be aware of your security needs, to be in tune with family matters and family members, to indulge your "domestic interests," to take care of concerns that affect your home and private life, and to consider your current concerns in the light of history and tradition.
During times of stress with this energy in effect, people (and the ways they express their emotions) are moody, unbalanced, resentful, blaming, fearful, compulsive, fretful, habit-bound, obsessive, complaining, depressed, insecure, touchy, smothering and self-pitying.
The real kicker, however, is the fact that this Moon in Cancer will be The Void of Course Moon virtually all week-end long!!! It goes void at 2:03 PM Saturday afternoon EST, 11:03 AM Saturday morning PST) ... and doesn't straighten itself out for 37 hours. (3:31 AM EST; 12:31 AM PST Monday morning, January 28). Consider this Mother Nature's way of telling you (in good Cancerian fashion!!) to sit back, do nothing, get some rest, and mellow out big time this week end.
I think my Significant Other has visions of a video movie marathon plowing channels in his mind for the downtime involved (no pun intended). You would be well-advised to do something of the sort yourself. Take up the suit of armor again on Monday. I'm betting it will still be there and waiting for you!
Back with more later. As I've mentioned before, it's a very busy time in the sky right now ... this Void of Course Moon notwithstanding.
For those of you who need a better explanation of what The Void of Course Moon is all about ... here's the link to the article on the site. Reading during this peculiar time on earth is very much one of the activities allowed!!
