Sun in Sagittarius

The Sun represents your ego, your basic sense of yourself. The sign it occupies in the Zodiac at any given time tends to focus your ego and interests on certain "generic matters" represented by the sign itself. You are also more likely to experience and express the personal characteristics represented by the sign involved.

The Sun moved into Sagittarius late last night, or very early this morning, depending on where you are in the country -- or the world. With the Sun in Sagittarius, people use their personal energy more charitably, openly and honestly than they may at other times.

Individually, you may feel a greater sense of intellectual restlessness, a desire to take in more knowledge and understand life on a greater scale in the coming year.

During this time your levels of generosity and tolerance may naturally rise ... but this year, especially, you may find yourself bumping hard against overly conservative opinions, entrenched ideas, unbending intellectual positions, judgmental attitudes, and inflexible views in other people -- especially people in positions of authority powerful enough that you have to pay attention to them.

A bold new revolutionary mindset regarding collective laws and religious philosophy is gradually working its way into the social fabric ... and this tension represents the "growing pains" of that process. Again, individually, this challenge will eventually break down your own long-standing prejudices, outmoded beliefs, and rigid "rules," some of which you may have staked your security on for decades.

The next thirty days may not be too comfortable, but they will be interesting ... and they will change you (and others around you, too!) for the better -- eventually. It's the time lag implied by that word "eventually" that can be aggravating!

In other news, the Moon is void of course most of the day today. (2:37 a.m. Thursday morning EST ... 11:37 p.m. Wednesday night PST until 4:52 p.m. Thursday EST ... 1:52 p.m. PST.) In a way, this is perfect for a holiday celebration with friends and family ... where you aren't planning anything earth-shattering or crucially important. If you can retain your sense of humor and just drift with the lazy energy this aspect brings to the day ... you'll be just fine.

The void of course Moon is a phenomenon well known to astrologers where nothing worthwhile gets done, things you start fizzle out, nothing goes as planned or expected. The energy of life is unfocused, at loose ends, and adrift.

It can be a marvelous day for daydreaming, creative meditation, open-ended therapy, socializing, or self-examination, but solid results and concrete accomplishments just aren't on the agenda. It's a day tailor-made to reminisce, work crossword puzzles, pay bills, catch up on routine chores, take a nap, or watch television and snack on everything you can lay your hands on.
