Once a new life form can show initiative, attain goals (like finding food and water), protect itself and support itself, it has the basic stuff to continue living. Some might think that would be enough, and for some expressions of spirit, it is. But the Universe, and whatever Divine Spirit directs it, knows better. It knows the joys of creativity, variety, curiosity, intellect ... and sharing. And from that magic mix of motives, Gemini was born.
Twins. What a marvelous idea. Just like you in many ways ... but different, too. Independent and interesting. Cooperative sometimes, cantankerous sometimes. Such a miracle! Everyone should have one. Much better than a simple "mate." How fabulous to be able to divide your own thoughts, view the same subject from many perspectives, entertain more than one opinion on anything you choose. How divine to be able to talk to yourself, debate with yourself, agree with yourself, argue with yourself.
See why Geminis are such fun? (If you think you're entertained by them ... you should get a load of the view from their side of the aisle!!) Once the biological necessities of sustenance and survival are assured, life starts looking for entertainment ... at which point, Gemini is waiting to take requests, or come up with suggestions, or offer fascinating possibilities.
Aries is concerned with exploring new territory, setting down boundaries, protecting its interests, and flexing its muscles. It's always independent. Sometimes infuriating. But it's blessed with the know-how and animal instincts it needs to make its way in the world. Taurus is concerned with using the physical commodities of the planet, amassing its riches, enjoying the realm of sensual delights, and establishing itself in the space it's claimed with stubborn determination.
These two signs are early examples of true grit. Later, of course, we get the more sophisticated models of Scorpio and Capricorn ... but in order to even have variety, we need Gemini energy first. So once life is no longer focused on matters of basic self-preservation, it needs a working mind, the ability to learn and remember, to use information, to communicate knowledge, and work with abstract ideas and opinions. That's when the rest of the signs thank their lucky stars ... literally ... for the presence of Gemini energy in the grand scheme of creation.
