Forecast for the New Moon in Pisces 2010

Well, as I wrote last month, a major collection of planets -- most of the ones that were in Aquarius in February -- have moved on into Pisces to highlight the qualities and interests of that sign this month. This cluster formation is about to dissolve though, so this lop-sided concentration and narrow focus won't last much monger.

Venus has already moved from Pisces to Aries. Mercury made the same trek earlier today. The Sun transits out of Pisces on Saturday. But their presence at the moment of the New Moon this month give the next four weeks plenty of focus on recuperation, new planning, behind-the-scenes activity, introspection, creative urges and a deeper-than-usual spiritual connection -- all hallmark qualities of Pisces at its best.

The Mutable Signs

There is a basic way of dividing the signs of the Zodiac into those signs that belong to the same element -- the fire, earth, air, and water signs -- and those signs that share a preference for certain tactics in engaging life's challenges -- the cardinal, fixed, and mutable signs.

Astrologers call these features the triplicities (of which there are three signs in four divisions) and the quadruplicities (which have four signs in three divisions.) I know ... it sounds like so much techno-speak ... but it's tradition and we're stuck with it. Yet as with all things, the names are less important than the meat of the knowledge.

When the Sun is Stressed in Pisces

Under stress with the Sun in Pisces, people are impractical, disorganized, and fragile. Anxiety levels rise -- even though these can be unrealistic and unnecessary -- purely a case of "letting your imagination run away with you." Still, the mood of this energy when stressed is secretive, gullible, paranoid, and fretful.

Back to Basic Elements ... and Qualities

When I first began to study Astrology, I would often hit some boring, hair-splitting piece of trivia in a book I'd bought where an author seemed to go on and on, enthralled with what I considered perfectly useless stuff. Dyads and dwads, for instance. Minor aspects -- like the biquintile, for another. The symbolism of the glyphs. Things that seemed so far removed from what I wanted Astrology to teach me that I'd wind up really annoyed these authors were taking up so much ink, paper ... and page thicknesses in books I'd hoped would contain more meat ... droning endlessly about this stuff I certainly wasn't taken with in the least.
