The Sun and Venus in Capricorn
Sextile Uranus in Pisces
January 17, 2010
This blend brings a feeling of creative freedom to your life and attitudes. It's another of those subtle little aspects that feels more like a passing mood in real life, but it is pleasant ... and fun ... and I'm sure it's welcome.

The New Moon in Capricorn
January 16, 2010
The New Moon in Capricorn brings ambition with a Capital "A" onstage. Your public reputation, your professional accomplishments, and your social standing are uppermost on your agenda. After the recent expansion, new learning, wider perspectives, and the arrival of a more eclectic and bountiful view of life, the next step is to establish yourself and your position so you can share these blessings with the community that supports you.

Saturn Retrograde
January 14, 2010
After dabbling a while in the partnership concerns of Libra, Saturn turned retrograde yesterday ... apparently to go back and mop up some details it left undone in Virgo. This will bring it back into tighter opposition with Uranus starting in earnest in March ... reactivating the misery we lived with much of last year.
Remember all the things I wrote about the Saturn / Uranus opposition? Well, we're going to have to talk about them again. Sooner rather than later. I know. I'm bummed about it, too.
Anyway, as a couple of very mild little consolation prizes, I can tell you that the New Moon arrives tonight. Just after midnight (MT). And Mercury goes direct tomorrow about 10 in the morning ... again, Mountain Time. So both those are worth noting. And, yes, we can look the other way for a few weeks on this Saturn / Uranus mess. Just know it's out there. And it WILL show up on schedule. But I'm willing to cross that bridge when we come to it. How 'bout you?

The Sun, Mercury and Venus
Conjunct in Capricorn
January 13, 2010
Now, on to today's business. There's been a change in the relative positions of Mercury and Venus relative to the Sun as it finishes its tour through Capricorn for the year. Mercury has moved behind the Sun. Venus has moved out in front. All three are in Capricorn, giving plenty of focus to the themes of that self-disciplined, pragmatic sign.
This change in the positions of Mercury and Venus foretell some subtle changes in the way you'll work with information and relationships for a while. Frankly, it's the sort of thing you might notice only because it's been pointed out to you ... but then, that's what a tour guide is for -- to help you recognize and work with the changes in the cosmic climate -- both great and small. Let's call the one I'm writing about today modest but important.

The Dark of the Moon
January 12, 2010
The Dark of the Moon is considered an especially mysterious, fruitful, and flexible time of "molding" the creative experiences that will come forth in the weeks immediately ahead.
It is said that wishes made as the last sliver of the Moon's light fades on the left, and affirmed through the Dark of the Moon period until the first sliver of new light appears again on the right, have special support -- special empowerment -- to come true. Affirming them again at the moment of the New Moon itself gives extra push to their nourishment and initiative.

Heading into the Weekend
January 8, 2010
We're deep into the waning cycle of the current New Moon. We passed into the Fourth Quarter yesterday. The Dark of the Moon will be here soon. (I know. Doesn't it feel like the last one was just a day or so ago?)
The New Moon in Capricorn arrives in another week, this time accompanied by a Solar Eclipse for emphasis. And so the Cancer / Capricorn schism ... the split between public life and private life, career responsibilities and family obligations, outer world achievements and inner world security ... continues with escalating insistence.
To help you review and clarify this conflict again, here are a pair of new Soul Snack presentations to consider as you work to resolve this Cancer-and-Capricorn split in your own life.

Have You Heard of This Thing
Called the Void of Course Moon?
January 7, 2010
Has the beginning of this year felt unusually sluggish and unfocused to you? It certainly has to me. I don't mean it's been lacking in effort and pressure. You may be coping with plenty of that. But there's also been a "thick" feeling you may have had to struggle against, as if you can't get organized, can't concentrate well, can't really "get your act together." Here in the United States especially, the first five days of the new year brought us three with significant void of course Moon periods during our normal waking hours.
If you recognize this "swimming against the tide" sensation I'm writing about, this is what void-of-course Moon energy feels like!! Not exactly sleepy, and yet strangely befogged, drifty and frustrating. You pick out a project to work on ... and you can't find a good starting place. You try to make progress on something ... and your plans fall apart. You think you're getting somewhere -- and the next day, you make different decisions and wind up undoing much of what you accomplished the day before.

More on the Importance of the Latest Full Moon
January 2, 2010
In the hustle and press of everything else going on in our lives -- and in the sky -- with the arrival of the New Year (Happy 2010, everyone!!), it may be easy to lose track of some important "background noise" that deserves extra focus. Specifically, I'm talking about all the Cancer energy concerns that have been repeatedly highlighted in the last half of 2009.
The Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse / Blue Moon power that arrived as the old year closed down just underscores this. And now that we have the fuss-and-folderol of New Year celebrations out of the way, I'll write more about what this means in some upcoming issues of Step by Step.
