Life's theme this month consolidates gains you made last year. You see more professional opportunities, ways to advance career interests, how to enhance or advertise your reputation, and a chance to gather more honors and prestige -- bigger feathers in your cap for your status and contributions. Life's natural flow points you toward long-term growth -- especially financial and investment growth. Fortify arrangements to protect you during crises. Build conditions you can count on to last. Grow assets to help you through emergencies and hard times, and forge lasting legacies -- one step at a time. You want reserves you can count on when you need them.

Show maturity, organization, caution, conservative responses, persistence, determination, patience, the careful and economic use of energy and resources, loyalty, industriousness, and self-control. Set realistic goals, take personal responsibility, and be ready to endure whatever lies ahead. This is a sober and reflective time, when recognition of what you don't have and a view of weaknesses in the fabric of your world overshadows the "count-your-blessings" attitude. You see what you need to work on next, what you need to supply, and where you could use extra reinforcement -- which, of course, sets the agenda for new goals in this new year.

Specifically this month ...

• There is huge emphasis in your public life this year. Professional interests, projects, and possibilities are onstage BIG TIME. This month begins a year of significant achievement in this life sector ... and also starts a momentous reorganization and improvement (so large it will only be fully appreciated in retrospect) of your career directions, professional and public achievements, and the foundations of your public life / reputation / status / prestige / authority / expertise / community contributions / personal legacy that will unfold over the next decade -- and beyond.

• The theme of personal independence ... the chance to live life your way -- in line with your own values and spiritual beliefs gets a big boost this month -- as part of these important changes in you, your attitudes, your decisions, and your overall "new course and direction."

• Partners and allies can help with your expansion efforts. Like-minded thinkers and teachers are on your side now. Look for philosophical soul-mates ... or common ground in existing relationships. Help from people who are "on the same page" can be invaluable. Travel can be helpful -- both physical jaunts to new scenery and journeys of the mind -- where you can find new ideas and broaden your education. Be ready to spend some $$$ to acquire possessions, knowledge, experience and other essential things. (Basically, it's time to begin a voyage you've been moving toward for a very long time.

• Ideas, information -- and your mind's ability to generate and use this bounty -- are your greatest assets for the next several months. Mercury retrogrades in Aquarius this month and next! Talk about an invitation to work with bright ideas!!! Intellectual productivity will shower you with gifts galore. Don't be shy about claiming them -- and acting on them And for heaven's sake, don't be caught napping through this period of rich creation. It lasts clear into summer, and is one of the best we've had in a long time!!

• Action is mostly centered "at home" ... or on building the foundations you need to make this miracle happen. Emphasize diversity, versatility, flexibility, and your ability to "work smart, not hard" (although there will be plenty of "hard work" on the agenda, nevertheless.) Multi-task. (You absolutely have to!!) Don't settle for one solution to problems or one approach to goals when you can think of several. Act on all of them. That way, you have several "fall-back plans" in case the one you're counting on fizzles. There's more than enough "action" to go around between now and summer. You need to be on top of your game!

• There's also a ton of work to do this year ... some of it not very exciting -- all of it necessary. Don't get lost in the details (although there will be many chances for you to do so) ... and don't become so tunnel-visioned you can't see the forest for the trees (another big temptation.) Take care of yourself physically!! Health care issues are important ... and so is adequate diet, rest and self-care. (If you wear out ... who's going to get all this stuff done???) Toward the end of this year that huge pile of work on your plate may feel like it's really interfering with that super-independent lifestyle you're dreaming of. But it's not. It's two sides of the same coin. You need to do what you need to do ... to have what you want to have. The work involved -- and yes, indeedy, there's a bunch of it awaitin' -- is just the price of the ticket. Bon voyage!!
