Good grief, does anybody get anything done out in the world between Christmas and New Years? I don't know why we don't just shut down the country that week and let us all concentrate on family life and recovery. That's where attention goes anyway! Either I'm gettin' old (no comments from the peanut gallery!!) ... or last month's mess from the mutable T-square left me especially wrung out. For once, I am so glad to see Capricorn's resolve and common sense coming into view.

Wow!! Just look at that Capricorn cluster at the top of the chart for this Lunation!! Sixty percent of the astrological sky is on our side in Capricorn now, helping us dig in our heels, set practical priorities ... and pull up our reserves to get us from here to Spring. There is tremendous emphasis this month (obviously) on the shift in professional pursuits and your public role I've mentioned lately.

Not that you'll see a sudden, wrenching shove in a new direction, but the ideas, the change of heart and ambition, and the important foundations that will support a new future along different lines -- those things get a tremendous boost in January. Watch for them ... and note how you can (and need to!) work with them when they arrive.

Life's theme during Capricorn is consolidation -- of what you have and what you need. You'll see more professional opportunities and ways to advance career interests. (You're certainly looking for these things, too!) You'll work to enhance your reputation and advertise yourself. You'll gather more respect for your abilities and the contributions you can make to the world.

In the coming weeks, life's natural flow points you toward long-term growth -- especially financial and investment growth. So, fortify arrangements that will protect you during crises. Build conditions that will last. Grow assets to get you through emergencies and hard times, and forge lasting legacies -- piece by piece. You want reserves you can count on when you need them, and during Capricorn's sensible energy is when you put this together -- especially this year --with so much emphasis in Capricorn now.

Show maturity, organization, caution, measured responses, persistence, determination, and patience. Concentrate on conserving energy and assets. Set realistic goals, take personal responsibility, and be ready to make it through whatever lies ahead. This is a sober and reflective time, when recognition of what you don't have and a view of weaknesses in the fabric of your world overshadows the "count-your-blessings" attitude. You see what you need to work on next, what you need to supply, and where you could use extra reinforcement -- which, of course, sets the agenda for new goals in this new year.

Specifically this month ...

• Wonderful, workable new ideas arrive to help guide the start of this professional transformation. Mercury retrogrades this month ... so rethinking your directions, your intentions, your plans -- and improving on what you have now -- is on the agenda big time.

• As grim as things are right now -- especially in "outside appearance," your targets for the future have tremendous help and encouragement. New alliances -- help from outside sources and "other people," including friends, colleagues, philosophical soul-mates, fellow visionaries, and like-minded thinkers -- even writers, teachers, scholars and sages no longer living -- will nourish your long-term dreams.

• Network whenever you can this month. Read. Think. Dream. Meditate. Pay attention to your spiritual life. And when your heart speaks ... and opportunity knocks ... do sit up and listen.

• The stress between all the work you have to do ... and all the freedom you want to have ... continues this month. But then that will provide the bass notes in life's symphony all this year -- sometimes louder than at others. So ... get used to it. Right now, it's present but tolerable. Enjoy it while it lasts. That won't always be the case.
