In astrology, an opposition between the Sun and the Moon always indicates a hyper-sensitive situation, where emotions are on full display, and "other people" are more easily able to jerk your strings and get on your nerves. It's also a situation where options are more readily available -- but so are ambivalence and confusion.
The Full Moon between the Aries Sun and the Libra Moon brings this situation front and center in ways that aren't always comfortable. The energy of the Aries Sun is assertive, competitive, forceful, and independent. The energy of the Libra Moon is cooperative, sociable, concerned with other people, and wants everything to be "nice."
The Sun represents your ego, your basic sense of yourself. The sign it occupies in the Zodiac at any given time tends to focus your ego and interests on certain "generic matters" represented by the sign itself. You are also more likely to experience and express the personal characteristics represented by the sign involved.
When the Sun is in Aries, people tend to be more aggressive, direct, and competitive than at other times. Their attitudes are forceful, vigorous, energetic, self-initiating, pioneering and bold.
This energy is direct, blunt, emphatic and concerned with winning. There is emphasis on self-assertion, expressing your intentions and pursuing your goals, making an impression, getting noticed, and "taking on the world."
The Moon represents your emotional self, your inner self, your instincts, habits, and automatic reactions. The sign it occupies in the Zodiac at any given time will color your reactions, feelings and "personal responses" according to the issues and characteristics represented by the sign involved. The Moon changes signs every 2 1/2 days.
With the Moon in Libra, it's a good time to be affectionate, sympathetic, companionable, tactful, fair, and gracious. It is also a good time to pay attention to your relationships and partnerships, to emphasize balance and harmony, to investigate and enjoy cultural matters and offerings, to participate in teamwork and joint efforts, and to negotiate differences that will need finesse and compromise to find a resolution.
Oppositions are angles of 180° between two or more planets ... directly across from one another in the circle of the horoscope.
Oppositions are an aspect of blockage, frustration, and challenge. They represent the tension you must handle when other people's needs and agendas (particularly those in your close partnerships) conflict directly and sharply with your own. As the very description in the word suggests, oppositions represent a power struggle between two antagonistic agendas in your life ... yours -- and someone else's.
Oppositions contain elements of "disowned qualities" which other people are forcing you to confront and reintegrate into your character and life strategies. They can be very uncomfortable and upsetting as "in reality" it may look and feel like somebody else is forcing you to respond in ways that are not comfortable or characteristic for you. But an analysis of the actual dynamics of the situation will show you are trying to accommodate two conflicting (and possibly mutually exclusive) needs ... one that is familiar to you, and one that's not.
Oppositions, therefore, mark a time of growth and diversification in your life ... and if you know enough, are wise enough, and / or patient enough to really observe what is going on, your antagonist is showing you the personal qualities you need to develop and fortify in your own character in order to be more complete, more effective, and possibly better able to defend yourself in similar experiences in the future.A complete, plain English description of the dynamics and meaning of The Full Moon in Libra opposing The Sun in Aries is available in our Premium Members section.
