There is one Mutable sign for each of the elements. Mutable signs are one element in what astrologers call "The Quadruplicities" ... or "The Qualities" ... or "The Modalities" ... a way of grouping the Zodiac signs according to the strategies they use to pursue their ambitions based on their different -- and often conflicting -- values.

Why is Gemini Important?

We all have Gemini energy expressing somewhere in our lives. True, if you don't have a planet in Gemini or a major placement, like the Ascendant, in Gemini, your Gemini energy is indirect, possibly confined only to the affairs of the house that has Gemini on the cusp. Even if you have the Gemini / Sagittarius axis intercepted in your chart, you still have Gemini energy in your character ... and in your life ... even though it is so private, so closely contained and secluded only you may really perceive its presence at all.

Even then, though, you, like the rest of us, will experience and cope with Gemini energy whenever a transiting planet moves through that sign, or whenever Venus in its travels conjuncts your Sun, your Ascendant, your Midheaven, or other important placement in your chart. There's no escaping it. Somewhere, your Mercury / Gemini energy is stirring, asserting itself, and making its presence known to you.
