Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac. It follows Aries in the Zodiacal line-up. As a rule, the range of Taurus covers the time from April 20th until May 20th. It is a time of year that emphasizes growth and establishing physical support sources. It is associated with earning and spending income, acquiring possessions, and using material resources wisely. In mundane matters, Taurus is associated with having enough money to support yourself, arranging a comfortable and beautiful physical environment, planning your next moves to achieve your ambitions.

The Zodiacal symbol for Taurus is the Bull. Taurus is the Fixed Earth sign. Earth signs are pragmatic, grounded, conservative, and materialistic. Fixed signs are associated with determination, reliability, and willpower. They deal with life's problems by digging in, holding firm, and "staying the course." Thus Taurus brings a firm resolve (which a lot of folks call "stubbornness") to the lifestyle it creates.

The other Fixed signs are Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. The natural style these signs take in their approach to life can bring challenges to their relationships with Taurus. The other Earth signs are Virgo and Capricorn. Common values and similar preferences in habits and ambitions help these signs find an easier, more natural compatibility with Taurus.

The Water signs -- Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces -- bring supportive and complimentary qualities that can enhance their relationships with Virgo. (As you can see, Taurus / Scorpio relationships can be kind of a mixed blessing.)

Physically, Taurus rules the throat. The ruling planet of Taurus is Venus. Taurus is associated with earth colors (browns and tans), natural colors (greens), and pastels. The starstone (not the birthstone) assigned to Taurus is the emerald.
