As a rule, the range of Taurus covers the time from April 20th until May 20th. It is a time of year that emphasizes growth and establishing physical support sources. It is associated with earning and spending income, acquiring possessions, and using material resources wisely.

Taurus is an Earth sign. In Astrology, Earth signs and Water signs are considered feminine, passive, reactive, receptive, introverted, and enduring. They attract experiences and "take advantage of opportunities" rather than creating circumstances independently. Though capable of acting forcefully, they often prefer to "wait and see what happens" before making any moves.. In addition to Taurus, the other two earth signs are Virgo and Capricorn.

Taurus is also a Fixed Sign. The Fixed Signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. These personalities tend to be noticeably stubborn, set in their ways, firm in their opinions, and resistant to change. They display stability, perseverance, resourcefulness, and resolve.

Why is Taurus Important?

We all have Taurus energy expressing somewhere in our lives. True, if you don't have a planet in Taurus or a major placement, like the Ascendant, in Taurus, your Taurus energy is indirect, possibly confined only to the affairs of the house that has Taurus on the cusp. Even if you have the Taurus / Scorpio axis intercepted in your chart, you still have Taurus energy in your character ... and in your life ... even though it is so private, so closely contained and secluded only you may really perceive its presence at all.

Even then, though, you, like the rest of us, will experience and cope with Taurus energy whenever a transiting planet moves through that sign, or whenever Venus in its travels conjuncts your Sun, your Ascendant, your Midheaven, or other important placement in your chart. There's no escaping it. Somewhere, your Venus / Taurus energy is stirring, asserting itself, and making its presence known to you.
