The Earth Signs in Astrology
Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
The Earth Signs of the Zodiac are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. There is one Earth Sign for each of the Qualities -- Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. Taurus is Fixed Earth. Virgo is Mutable Earth. Capricorn is Cardinal Earth.
Earth Signs are concerned with issues of supplying, investing, building, or creating the practical substance and support systems needed to nourish the inspirations and new beginnings produced by Fire Sign energy. A terrific ambition or worthy goal is a wonderful gift, but without money, materials, durable support, and labor invested to realize it ... it's probably going nowhere.

Meet the Earth Signs
Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Earth is the element associated with common sense, groundedness, practicality, and a natural talent for dealing with the physical business of life. The ambitions of the Earth signs are different from the "personality based" aims of the Fire signs. Earth signs want possessions, material assets, physical resources, money, and status based on personal achievements and contributions -- not just "personality" alone.

More on the Earth Signs
In the 'Tween Times
From Fire Element to Earth Element
Fire element begins the creative cycle. The fiery, rambunctious energy of Cardinal Fire Aries is the beginning of the Zodiac ... the commencement of yet another spring. Fire takes the action that sets "consequences" and results in motion.
Fire is the upsurging will to exist, to take on the trappings and responsibilities of life with the freshness and newness of budding but still untapped potential. Fire element is burning with passion and vitality, and yet fire without containment and direction is a force out of control, as horrifying in its destructive might as its blazing flicker from mere spark to vibrant flame is exciting.

On Solid Ground
Turning the Magic of Life
Into Something Useful
The Earth itself is the central feature of our material existence. Without it we have nothing to stand on ... and no place to live, at least not in the way of life as we know it. Maybe that very fact is part of the paradox of spiritual beings in a physical world ... like some grand experiment in the Cosmos. (If anybody remembers actually signing on for this journey, please let me know where so I can take a different turn next time the line forms.)
On Solid Ground

In the 'Tween Times
From Earth Element to Air Element
After the flash and fury of Fire Element's spectacular beginnings, comes the leavening, calming, and often highly welcome influence of Earth Element. Earth Element is concerned with grounding, stability, security, and protection. It understands at a glance the benefits of Fire's grand initiatives, but it also understands with barely a second glance that Fire can quickly burn itself out and leave behind nothing but a pile of ashes and a few wisps of smoke.
Yes, Fire can sure go out in a blaze of glory ... but, asks Earth, what's the use of that -- when, with a little patience and planning, one could take that marvelous opportunity and build something useful, something solid, something practical ... and something permanent? (Or something as permanent as life gets in this ever-changing world.)
