Rebecca Brents Why learn the Tarot? It's a fair question. But there can be several reasons why people ask me this. They wonder why someone who looks and sounds as sane and sensible as I do in "real life" would spend time learning (and teaching and advising and making money from) something which sounds so foolish, frivolous, and illogical on the surface -- or as far as their often very limited information goes.

As sincerely and simply as I can, I answer these people, "Because I have learned the Tarot works when you know what you're doing and that it has value for me."

Sometimes I still get a smirk and a shake of the head from the other person ... who has just added another piece of evidence to his belief that crazy people come in all guises. But I get that reaction a lot less often than I used to. I think this is a good thing. Maybe it means that people in general are more tolerant of new ideas and more open to at least looking at something different before writing it off.
