This is a long document. I know in this day of sound bites and short attention spans that's not a popular thing to present ... and for that you have my apologies. But we've built another toy here in the Premium Members section and I don't know any other way to tell you how to work with it and what it does ... except to write out the instructions and tell you to read 'em ... when you have time -- or if you get lost 'cause you didn't pay attention to anything I wrote here even when I told you from the get-go you ought to.

We've been working on a new feature backstage that I find quite amazing, and with Catweasel's programming ingenuity we've come up with a way to present what we've discovered in our daily reading work with the What's in the Cards? Ezines ... so that you can see it, too.

When we first started doing the What's in the Cards? Ezines by Sun Sign seven days a week about seven months ago ... I would lay out each section on a grid that contained seven spaces, and fill in a new card each day as the "dailies" (as we call them here in the studio) were built and mailed out.

In doing that, I began to notice how, at the end of the week, I had the structure of my favorite standard reading layout ... a linear Seven Card Reading ... staring me in the face. More importantly I began to see how the "dominant energy" for each successive day began to interweave itself into the overall pattern of the week's progression ... even if the evidence of its presence was extremely subtle on the day of its arrival for inclusion in the developing fabric we were building day after day.

Based on this, I began to work with clusters of cards to see how their message might fit into the ongoing experience of my daily life. Doing this, I found the cards forecast to the day the unexpected death of my most elderly cat, a wonderful friend who graced my life for fifteen years, -- a week ahead of the event.

In similar fashion, they forecast the most profitable day we've had thus far at Enchanted Spirit, the fireworks of several serious quarrels between my webmaster and myself (in which the cards said I was pushing too hard, being unreasonable, needing to back off -- they don't always tell you what you want to hear!!), and the arrival of a person whose cranky reply that she "didn't have a crystal ball" when we asked when something for which we'd paid several hundred dollars would actually be available to us (and which was then two days past its promised delivery date) prompted us to take our business elsewhere.

These are, admittedly both out-of-the-ordinary events ... and common experiences in the daily conduct of life. The parade of cards, one after another, marked the movement of life's tides, the moments of success and celebration, and the days when Catweasel and I looked at each other and said, "Let's hope tomorrow is a little easier."

Of course, I keep track of the cards for my own Sun Sign ... and in so doing, saw them speak eloquently to me of circumstances I was dealing with ... and a view of the road several steps ahead. However, since the cards pass through my hands, I was worried that my view of this might be inadvertently biased -- even if it wasn't always complimentary. (Believe me, the cards can be exceedingly blunt in their comment on "what's happening.")

I began showing others what I was seeing ... whose readings did not make sense or apply to my circumstances because they, of course, were receiving different cards and were members of different Sun Signs. The response was extremely encouraging ... and so Catweasel and I began working on ways to put this information out as a way of "tying things together" for you, the way we were managing to do for ourselves, and help you start to see how each successive tile in the puzzle eventually creates a greater, more comprehensible picture of experience.

Based on the well-known method of creating an animated cartoon out of static pictures that, when strung together in a flip file form pictures that move, we've taken clusters of cards and begun showing how they form a coherent story ... a week at a time. We call this creation now The Moving Picture, appropriately enough. And we think if you start to work with this project the way we have, you'll see the same intriguing results in your own world as the stories in the cards unfold ... week after week.

There are, however, several things you need to keep in mind.

  • This feature marks the progress of daily life. For the most part, daily life is hum-drum, full of little ups and downs, tiny victories and minor irritations. You need to view each card's energy within that context unless your personal circumstances are clearly building to a crisis or a triumphant pay-off and hinting at greater things in the making.

  • We are taking the cards in weekly sections. For those of you wondering if we might have begun just anywhere ... the answer is yes. I have, in fact, dealt with multiple weeks in the sequence of my own life -- while watching this to see how it worked best -- in order to build this feature.

In fact, in one experimental version of this, we were looking at literally showing the shift of progress in daily increments for a month at a time -- 30 cards on the webpage -- but the array in that arrangement is not only visually overwhelming, but the information content is as well. Another problem would be how to actually interpret it in ways that made sense in such huge bites. We've opted for this presentation instead. It does seem to work rather nicely.

  • Because the cards are drawn anew from a complete deck each day ... instead of being laid out in a line of seven at one time, as in a standard reading, a very interesting thing can happen. You may see the same card in different positions in the same "reading."

I've seen this happen a number of times ... and quite often the card will be in a different orientation (reversed or upright) on the second showing -- suggesting you are working with this card's theme by trying to "straighten it around" ... or come at its applications from another angle. This is fascinating comment on how this card and its meaning have unusual importance for you during this period. (Recently, I watched the 10 of Rods parade through my life with such monotony it became amusing ... and we labeled this card "My new best friend.")

  • We intend eventually to put up four weeks worth of this progression so you will be able to see an entire month's worth of evolution. We could have started out with four weeks of cards for every sign. (In fact that was my original intention as I wrote the files we'd need.) But, no kidding, the shock of information overload can be pretty severe.

Also, because this picture deals so much with life's minutiae, there's a good chance that unless you've followed its progress the way I have (and the way I now invite you to do), you'd have a hard time remembering just what was going on with you and your world four weeks back.

  • However, there is another interesting feature of this project. In the same way that pictures up too close to your eyes will be blurry and indistinct, and come into better focus as you move them out a ways ... the energy patterns being described here seem to work in the same way.

By four weeks out, if you've watched it happen, you'll see all the elements of the reading in play ... and the development that's come from them. But sometimes it's taken me three weeks to really understand what that Ace of Swords in my reading was telling me about my ongoing circumstances. Having watched for it, I could not only encourage its influence in my circumstances, I could note the subtle possibilities as they arrived and grew gradually stronger -- until, voila ... there they were, the bright ideas and new intellectual outlook I'd been promised ... days back.

  • You also need to keep in mind that time is a much more fluid and flexible concept than we give it credit for, with our clocks and calendars ... and the messages of the readings will merge, blend, and overlap ... one into the other as the picture they're building comes into acceptable focus.

  • The cards seem to show up in the daily readings when finally there is enough energy for their results to start moving forward with clear purpose in physical reality. Therefore, I've adopted a kind of unconventional idea that seems to work rather nicely here. When in the progress of the week, the seventh card ... which is the "result," the outcome, the far future of one reading, becomes the most likely immediate condition because of the passage of time (To put it another way ... eventually what was the future, becomes the present ... and the readings attempt to show this in action.) -- that card becomes the situation card, the foundation of the new week's progression.

Thus, the readings will move backward through the week in terms of each new arrival. What comes out on Sunday this week, will come out on Saturday next week, will come out on Friday the week after, will come out on Thursday the week after that, etc., etc., etc. (If you're confused, don't worry. You'll see what I mean as time goes on.)

  • For this reason, I do encourage you to check back a couple of times a week for each new reading ... and to refresh your memory about the previous ones (it's really not necessary to check back daily). In this way, you can, as I did, watch the elements that don't seem to "fit yet" come into sharper focus, and if it's a nice little asset, like that Ace of Swords I mentioned above, you can encourage its arrival with your own contributions to its support.

  • Checking in every three or four days lets you see what you now have in focus ... and what's coming up ... and what's new ... and what's moving away. Hence ... The Moving Picture. You will, indeed, start to see when certain energies have become history ... and what is still too close to be clear, thus orienting yourself in some piece of this reading ... with the flexibility I mentioned earlier.

I believe you will also see, as I have, the recurrence of certain themes in your life, sometimes with the same cards, sometimes with similar ones, sometimes showing improvement, sometimes showing more critical problems ... but you'll get a much better feel from this project and its information of the knots you're trying to untie in your personal development and the successes you're having ... as well as the setbacks.

In time, you'll see that one "theme" seems to have moved on to be replaced by something else, some other set of trials, puzzles, and vexations. Frankly, I consider this to be among the greatest values of this project .. understanding the step-by-step progress of your life. You're under no obligation to agree, of course, but just having this resource for me alone was worth all I put into building it in the first place. I certainly hope sharing it with you brings the same delight and value in its wisdom.

  • Being in possession of all the information, we've noticed interesting patterns form regarding the various signs and their challenges ... and victories. There was a time, for example, when the lives of Taurus people seemed chockfull of other people, their problems, and their effects ... and we've noticed that Scorpios seem to get the best cards in their daily lineups with infuriating regularity. (Several of us here are trying to figure out how to become Scorpios ... so we can cash in on the bounty!!)

  • The text in the files is sometimes stilted and rough ... because my intent was to get information in place rather than create something with a nice touch of style. I will do what I can to smooth things out over the coming weeks so that the reading is a little more aesthetic and pleasant, but the basic information is sound ... and I'm not entering this in any literary contest. So, I'm trusting you can make do with it as it "improves" ... like a vintage wine, with age.

  • Therefore there may be updates to the reading pages from time to time ... and updates to this page as well, as I make changes or think something needs to be mentioned. Check back for possible addenda at the bottom. There may be some ... there may not. This is still a work in progress ... and you need to treat it as such.

With Mercury fixing to go Retrograde soon, we may be rethinking this a LOT in the coming weeks ... since Mercury will be retrograding in my 6th house of Work ... and in Catweasel's third house of communications. Who knows what it will look like when we get done with it ... or if it will still exist.

  • Right now only the cards for Life are available. There are plans to eventually introduce pages just like this for Love and for Money.... but Mercury's going retrograde ... so take that with a grain of salt.

  • As I said, there will eventually be four weeks worth of cards / readings available here. If you want these readings for future reference PRINT THEM before they go away four weeks from now. They may not be anything you'll find worth keeping ... again they deal with details, fine points, and daily trivia, but once they're gone ... they're gone. You won't be able to get them again. Not from us ... not anywhere on the site.

  • Finally, as you were told in the beginning ... this is where we're developing "works in progress." If you find glitches, bugs, or have problems with this feature and the way it works ... let us know. (If you have suggestions that might improve things, we'll listen to those, too.)

We're inventing things back here ... so treat this the way you would the creation of any mad scientists. We're going to play with this ourselves ('cause that's how we have fun) ... and there's no telling what we'll do with it if we take a notion. Heed the posted warnings. Maintain a safe distance. And be careful where you step. (But ... feel free to have fun, too.)

More later. Count on it.
