Situation

Despite it's highly romantic name and imagery, this card is about making choices -- usually ones that have serious impact, even life-changing consequences. It points to a "decision point" in your direction, when "the path not taken" is foreclosed, possibly forever, and you commit yourself to a definite course -- which necessarily excludes some of the choices, experiences, and results that were previously available to you.

This can be a good thing, however. Since this card often depicts you choosing that which you want over that which you don't ... some of what you leave behind may be problems or experiences you never wanted in the first place.

It indicates that a major and significant decision is in the making, that you've reached a crossroads point and need to make a choice. It is a positive indication of knowing who you are and what you need, of trusting your common sense ... and your ability to make the right choices. It's an energy of balance, harmony, wholeness, integration, union, and self-actualization. It can indicate you're emerging from a time of confusion and indecision into a time of making better choices.

Assets

This card is about an identity crisis, not knowing who you are or what role you play in the circumstances of your life. It's about feeling torn, frustrated, anxious, confused, helpless, and uncertain. It's about not knowing what you want ... and thus not knowing how to pursue happiness. It's about feeling limited, opposed, blocked, and unable to make a positive difference in your situation. It's often an indication that you are trying to move in a direction that's not right for you ... or that you're trying to push something into being before the time is right.

It can be an extremely exasperating time of feeling things aren't moving fast enough ... or that you're not up to the challenges that beset you, but in reality it is either a time when you are "growing" into the new strengths and dimensions you need to have in order to succeed in your project ... or realigning your efforts in more productive directions ... or waiting for "life" to straighten out and offer you clearer, more agreeable, more reasonable paths to follow -- and choices to consider.

Often all of these elements are present in your situation. After all, you and Life are involved in a constant dance of growth and change.

Liabilities

This card is about using your mind as it was intended. It's about showing good sense, being logical, being organized, and planning ahead. It's about making dispassionate, objective choices, being unbiased, and "thinking your way through" problems to reach a sensible conclusion. It's about assessing yourself and your circumstances to be sure you're going in the right direction, seeing plans through to completion, and being self-sufficient in your judgments.

When it appears in a reading, it's telling you to use your head, check your facts, clarify and confirm your assumptions. It's telling you to concentrate on your objectives - and not get side-tracked on trivialities. Hold fast to your own opinions. Use information wisely. Be honest in your remarks ... and tell the truth. This is the card of the rational mind in its most glorious and uncluttered expression.

Near Future

This card is about taking on a new philosophy of life, acquiring a new and important intellectual dimension, starting to think in new ways, trying out a bold new idea, looking at life differently and instituting some new rules for living. It indicates a time of solving problems -- or seeing solutions -- through greater insight and education.

It suggests the arrival of a new "intellectual position" on yourself and your venture. It may indicate a time of "more study and more education" or going back for advanced training in whatever it is you're working to do -- or to implement what is apparently a really good new idea.

Resolution

This card is about new beginnings. Its flavor is joyous, optimistic, exuberant, and creative. It suggests a time of emotional growth, material happiness, success, and attainment. It reminds you that generosity -- of both physical goods and spiritual bounty -- is a component of a well-lived life. Its appearance here also reminds you of the need to claim opportunity with delight and gratitude when an advantage like this shows up on your doorstep.
