According to the principles of feng shui, sharp angles harm, damage, or inhibit the Chi -- the basic energy whose free-flowing movement gives health, happiness, and life vitality to those it surrounds. This includes the sharp corners common to tables and other pieces of furniture. Rounded or oval shapes, on the other hand, allow the chi to flow more freely. Adding plants with rounded leaves to rooms or areas in your house with "lots of corners" can help minimize the negative effects these sharp angles have on Chi.

In fact, if you want to increase the flow of energy into certain areas of your life in general, adding objects that are rounded to the rooms or sections of rooms associated with your concerns can help. Hang a wall mandala or add an artistic cluster of gold-colored coins to your prosperity area, for instance, to increase your flow of abundance and wealth. Or put round cushions or a plant with round leaves in your relationship area to improve your love life ... or attract a suitable partner.
