Anemia is a physical condition in which a body does not have ... or does not produce ... enough red blood cells to function properly. Anemia is not a disease, but rather a "result" with a number of possible causes. There are also different forms of anemia. Anemia can result from blood loss due to injury or internal bleeding, the destruction of red blood cells, or inadequate red blood cell production.
