Compliment three people every day. More if you can.

Have a dog. Spend some quality time with him or her every day. No one else will ever love you so unconditionally -- and so willingly show it.

Whenever possible, sit and watch the sunrise -- or the sunset -- whichever suits your fancy -- and share it with someone you love.

Remember other people's birthdays. With the convenience of the Internet, sending an e-card doesn't even cost you postage -- and your thoughtfulness may really make someone's day.

Over-tip waitpersons for really superior service.

Say "thank you" -- even for small favors.

Say "please" with a smile in your voice.

Once a week (or at least once a month!!) have a meal at home where you pull out all the stops. Soup, salad, sauces, dessert. Use the good china, good crystal, good silver. (Or at least use real plates --not paper ones.)

Buy real flowers for a special occasion. Look hard for reasons to declare a special occasion!

When you have a favorite song -- buy the CD. Remember, this is how the artist gets paid.

Return the things you borrow. Give back a little something extra to the person who lent it to you.

What is your area of expertise? What do you do really well? Where could you teach these skills in a class?

If your house has a fireplace (and it should!!) even if you consider it strictly ornamental, use it several times a year.

Buy the merchandise of kids selling cookies, candy, and snacks to support their clubs and extra-curricular school activities.

Treat people the way you want to be treated. (Say, doesn't this advice sound familiar?)

Plant a tree somewhere every year. Make it part of your birthday celebration, perhaps, even if you have to postpone the actual work until the right season. It could be your way of giving something back to the world.

Hold information told to you in confidence sacred.

Write Thank You notes.

Don't give up on anyone completely. Miracles do happen.

Don't concentrate on learning the tricks and shortcuts of a skill. Instead, learn the skill. Then concentrate on being quicker and more efficient -- but don't sacrifice quality in the final product.

Stop and buy produce from road-side stands -- especially if you're buying direct from the farmer.
