When I have visited some of these 'type' of sites (yours is 'most unique,' and I do not bunch it together with the others:):) I had never gotten the one-on-one interaction like I do here...most are not 'personal' and do not have the 'human touch' as you and your staff give it.

An interesting moment of personal examination came to Alfred Nobel one morning when he woke to find his own obituary reported in a French newspaper.
"Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, who died yesterday, devised a way for more people to be killed in a war than ever before, and he died a very rich man."
Certainly the main point of this story was news indeed to Mr. Nobel. And just as clearly, the paper had erred, confusing the death of Ludvig Nobel, Alfred's older brother, with that of the renowned inventor. But seeing the way his life would be summed up to the world bothered Alfred Nobel, because ironically, given the way he had spent his life and made his fortune, he was philosophically a pacifist, strongly opposed to the military applications of his inventions..
"For my part," he said three years before his death, "I wish all guns with their belongings and everything could be sent to hell, which is the proper place for their exhibition and use."
Ironically, too, much of his work with the invention of dynamite came about because of an accident in his family's explosives and munitions factory that killed his younger brother and four others. In the wake of this tragedy, Alfred decided to put his education as a chemist to use finding a safer way to work with explosives, specifically nitroglycerin.
Forced to conduct his research and experiments on a barge in the middle of a lake away from populated areas because of the volatile materials he handled, Nobel eventually formulated dynamite, the invention that would make him rich ... and which could be safely and easily handled. Other inventions followed, but his development of dynamite was his most widely known achievement ... and the foundation of his own industrial empire.
Though he had intended it for use in peaceful, constructive applications, the function of dynamite as a weapon was inescapable, a fact that took a serious toll on Nobel's mental and emotional state toward the end of his life. Prone to depressions and symptoms of nervous stress, Nobel never married. The one woman he considered marrying, with whom he corresponded for years, and who was also a pacifist ... chose to marry someone else.
As Nobel's health deteriorated, his guilt over what looked to be the final legacy of his life escalated. A little over a year before he died, Alfred Nobel drew up a will while sitting in the Swedish Club in Paris. In the presence of four witnesses, and writing on a torn half sheet of paper, he drew up the will establishing what would become the Nobel Prize ... a series of awards for individuals whose contributions inspired the world.
"If only a few out of a hundred such ideas ever bear fruit," he said, "I consider I have gained a rich result."
There were originally five Nobel prize categories: Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. The sixth, for Economics, was added in 1969. Ninety-four percent of Nobel's huge personal fortune was to provide the foundation fund for the prizes.
When this will, with several clear problems as to its legality and means of execution, was read after his death, the protests of outraged relatives and massive logistical problems delayed the formal establishment of the prize for five years. Yet, in the end, the spirit of Nobel's intent prevailed.
"Every man ought to have the chance," he said, "to correct his epitaph in midstream and write a new one."
His chance was one he clearly appreciated. But it brings up an interesting thought.
If tomorrow, you read your own epitaph, what would it say about you ... and how might you like to change that?

Creativity arises out of the tension between spontaneity and limitations, the latter (like the river banks) forcing the spontaneity into the various forms which are essential to the work of art or poem. ~ Rollo May ~ The Courage to Create Man's Search for Himself Born April 21, 1909
