I was sorry to admit it: Hank and Buttercup were getting on my last nerve.

My intention was to have a peaceful walk with them. Yes, I wanted to increase my heart rate and raise my metabolism, too, but I didn't want to be rushed along our path - I also enjoy experiencing the sacred as we walk.

You guys -- stop it!

I brought them to a stop on the path so that I could shake my head at them to prove my exasperation physically. I felt satisfied with my stern performance. We moved forward and Hank pulled me again.

"Gee, that was effective." I mumbled.

I walked with my grumbly, mumbly head down for several steps until we turned a corner in the path.

It was as if something called to me to raise my face. I lifted my eyes to look into the sky and all my noise-making thoughts vanished.

Right there in front of me was a glorious sight taking form in the puffy, cottony clouds. High above where we stood, the clouds were speaking in there unique cloud language.

I noticed light beams penetrating the air around their form. My eyes traced the light prisms back to the clouds.

I saw the eye-shaped fissures, the place where the bursting rays of light blushed through the clouds.

I could feel the Divine viscerally meeting me there in the light, saying, "I am grateful for you."

My heartbeat whispered, "What?"

My body paused in complete incredulity.

Again, I received the message "I am grateful for YOU."

I flashed to the many times when I have given gratitude to the Universe, literally overflowing with delight over the simple moments, the ordinary-extraordinary in any given day.

Thirty minutes prior to this moment I had experienced my being swelling with joy from the soft texture of my exercise pants as I slid them over my legs. I felt pur bliss as I prepared for this very walk with my dogs.

The eyes in the clouds seemed to squint, as if responding to a deep smile.

Yes, you got it right. I am grateful for you -- yes, you.

My soul opened to receive the message.

I looked at Hank and Buttercup, who were standing quietly beside me as if to say "This is why we were pulling you - there is no need for us to guide you anywhere else except right here right now."

Yes.
