With the time change here in the USA, my thoughts turn to, time. Spirit has led me to ponder on this quite often.

Today, I went outside to enjoy the autumn air and the beautiful colors of leaves falling all around me. I could feel the force of the wind as I looked up at a tall oak tree and thought of time.

I think of how long it took that oak to grow so tall. From a small seed within an acorn, the seed took root. It began to grow. It survived many trials, such as the harsh winds blowing at its small twig of a body and the rains attempting to wash it away. Not all will survive to grow tall and majestic, some will be weaker and unforeseen circumstances will alter its life.

Its bark has scars telling stories. There are enemies to the oak, such as the gypsy moth in our area of the country and the leaves bear spots where these predators ate at an alarming rate last year, almost destroying many.

Some will grow tall, taller than buildings. Their stories are there for us to listen to if we just take the time to slow down long enough to enjoy them. I treat all trees with reverence because they have much to teach me, they're like old masters.

Their patience is undying and their beauty, strength and long life exist for a reason. I fight against those always wanting to cut trees down for their own personal gain and to simply destroy them, due to their own wants. Use for survival is one thing, but to destroy something of beauty and so precious is not done in the name of Mother Earth.

When I sit at the roots of the oak, balancing and grounding myself to the earth, I feel their stories. They watch us live our lives and see how we rarely take the time to come back to our roots, those things within us that are so important. Our Spiritual roots. We often feel we don't have enough time, that we may miss something or be late arriving somewhere.

We're like the oak, starting our lives small and frail. With time we receive scars that tell stories about us. The winds will blow and test how strong we are. We need nourishment and a place to grow.

I tell you friends, that many times, we need to throw out our clocks and our watches and learn once again to go by our internal clocks. To watch the sky, to see where the sun is positioned, to feel the air as evening comes and the days grow cooler. We need to stop worrying about being here or there. What purpose will it have in many years from now?

Yes, I know, we all have things to do, but when we let time control us instead of us controlling our time, then something needs to change.

I plant new trees quite often and I watch them grow as time moves forward. For myself, I know time is something that is going to come whether I am ready or not, so I choose to do things that make me happy. I let things flow which in turn makes life a bit easier. I don't worry, I help others and I trust in Spirit that all things come in their own Divine timing, even the life of the smallest and the largest of the oaks.
