Do you live a Spiritual life or do you only call on Spirit/God/Goddess/Your Higher Power, when you're in trouble or need something?
Is your spirit happy because you live the life and follow the path you have chosen because it feels right or because it seemed like a good idea at the time or that others pressured you?
I was raised Southern Baptist and taught about the Bible and about the power of God. Not much was ever said about the Holy Spirit except that the trinity is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all in one. We were taught about the life of Jesus and the many Miracles he performed and how we should learn to love like Jesus did.
Later, I left that church for a non-denominational church and found out about the power of the Holy Spirit. We can have so much more in our lives and we all have power within us too.
But even this didn't feel right to my heart, so I continued to search. I visited many different churches and was very unhappy with what I experienced. Where was the love, that unconditional kind of love that all people should have for one another? I wanted to learn, to experience, to feel.
I recall a few members of my family continuously asking me to go to church with them or asking had we found a new church. Well, I knew that my answer was definitely no, but they were persistent.
I had stopped looking for a church, and now was searching for myself and my true relationship with Spirit. I was reading tons of books and the internet came into my life. I began asking questions about things I had felt within me all my life. I was reaching out and within.
Then one day, someone asked me to attend a church service and my reply was "I really don't feel comfortable in church anymore, some of the people there feel very fake, not real to me. I would prefer to spend my time with God on the hillside sitting on the grass in the sun, that's where I feel God/Spirit."
Well, the response was not taken so well and I was quoted verses from the Bible that stated that we are supposed to fellowship with others of like minds. Funny how that is, how judgmental people can be. Well, I couldn't find any others of like mind, it was just me and Spirit/God at that time.
That was my first real act of becoming myself and finding the truth. To this day I will proclaim my happiness and love I feel for myself by searching for what truly feels right for me. For me...I have found it.
Often, people only seek Spirit/God when they are hurting, need or want something. Why can't they also share the good moments with Spirit and say "Thank you" now and then for all the blessings in their lives, even on the not so great days.
I don't just choose one day a week to show my love for what I believe in, I live it, I share it, I walk it and talk it, all the time.
This is my choice and we all have free will. I can say my life has changed 100% since I began to listen to my heart/spirit and follow the path that leads me to loving myself, and others, unconditionally.
I talk to Spirit/God quite a lot and pay attention to the things around me. When I am in need of guidance I ask for it and patiently, well usually patiently, wait. I have found that giving my problems to Spirit/God and then keeping busy and not worrying about them, is the only way to live.
Worry is a waste of good time and effort, not to mention brain cells. It can make us age faster and sure does waste a lot of good time we could be doing something so much more important and prosperous.
I choose to use my energy to do good things that keep me headed forward, not backwards. It's because "I Believe!"
Why just have a quickie with your Higher Power, why not have a relationship and find out who you truly are and what you are here on this earth for. When you take the time to give more than a quickie, you will be happily surprised that Spirit/God will give you more than a quickie too!!
