First it was the Holidays that came and went with lots of stress, even though I said I wouldn't give into it again this year. I do all right, getting everything I would like to see done, done. I enjoy my family and little by little, the Holidays have been getting back to remembering the love that is so important, not the gifts.

Before we know it, we have snow in our area of the woods and winter is officially here. Our routine of keeping warm, removing snow and ice, taking care of our critters and the wild critters too, keeps us busy, but by now, longing for Spring.

February rolls around and I find myself in a space of pondering again. I thought I had just finished that phase, usually that happens to me around the Holidays and in the New Year. February just keeps it going a bit for me because of my Birthday. I had just about worn myself down to the nub this time, with the bad weather, a toothache, allergies and just getting everything done, when here comes my Birthday. I planned the day with my husband and was looking forward to finally getting out of the house on a bit sunnier and warmer day. I decided I was going to do what I wanted on this day.

When I walked out of the house, I still had a lot on my mind and suddenly I told my husband, "today I am letting go and am going to have a great time!" We weren't planning anything big, but just making that statement and seeing the sun, made me believe and know it was the truth.

We had lunch and then drove to a "rock shop" not too far from home that I had wanted to visit. I had been there once and liked it and had wanted to get back for some time. Today was the day! The energy there was wonderful. We went to a few other places and then a movie and dinner and I remember stating quite a few times how wonderful I felt.

I made the statement that things were going to change today. I recharged and renewed myself. I chose where to go and what to do and that was just what my spirit needed. I let go of things I had been carrying that weren't even mine. I felt for sometime now that I was being put through tests and almost felt like I was under a microscope. The ways I reacted to this "testing" made me very aware that I am exactly who I choose to be. That if people had a problem with that, then that's their problem, not mine.

Often, we need to take time out to recharge and renew ourselves, and our spirits...which of course are who we are.

In the area where I live, it's winter and sometimes people stay indoors a lot during this time. The old dreaded "cabin fever" really does exist, but there are ways we can get out or bring some good, renewed energy to us too.
