So many people today share how they just don't feel happy. Being happy is up to us, not anyone else. Let's define "happiness" and see what we can do to learn to love ourselves and be happier.

I actually didn't like the definition in the dictionary because it spoke of good luck, being fortunate, enjoying or showing pleasure, satisfaction or joy. I like the part about joy, but the rest, I am not so sure about.

I guess my definition of happy has nothing to do with luck it has to do with the heart. When we are happy, we feel it all the way to the core of who we are. We may feel happy when something good comes our way and during life moments when good things happen. We even feel happy when in a balanced loving relationship, but when we are not feeling happy, then what?

What can we do to help ourselves to feel and be happy?

Loving and taking care of your self are two very important things we can do to help us be, and stay balanced and happy.

Although life throws us some curve balls that may come pretty fast and furious, we still can learn to maintain our balance or to regain it quicker than we would have before when we didn't understand what we could do to help ourselves.

With so many changes occurring all over the world, we feel this new energy and may need to step back and remember how important we are.

What truly makes you happy?

Do you feel that your life is being rushed, or that you spend too much time alone, or would you like to change careers or just do something you've always wanted to do?

You may feel that things will never change, but once you define what it is that you want in your life, you can then begin to manifest the changes. This may not happen over night. We often have to take one step at a time to help these changes to occur in our lives, so patience is also something we need to learn along with good, positive, healthy thoughts.

You may want to start small and take time to do something you love, whether it's going for a nature walk, adopting a new pet, reading, writing, creating, taking a long, hot bath with aromatherapy, changing your hair, playing a sport, or just being nice to yourself and not making so many demands.
