When you add a link to Enchanted Spirit we can reciprocate by adding a link to your website from our own Reciprocal Links page or from other sections on the site. We are more than happy to exchange links with worthwhile sites which host quality content. Your site doesn't need to be specifically related to our field, although the information at Enchanted Spirit covers a wide range of interests. If you can see a connection between your website theme and ours -- or one of our departments, we almost certainly will, too.

This page is meant to be a quick and easy way for you to add a link from your website to ours. You must add a link to us BEFORE requesting a reciprocal link FROM us. You can find appropriate content for our links here. Please choose a block of text for your site, put it in place, and let us know where we can find it. You can easily contact us about reciprocal link requests using the form at the bottom of this page.

• If you link to both our Free Content Site and our Shop site, you'll get links on our Reciprocal Links pages from both sites, or elsewhere in our Links section as we deem appropriate. • If we are sufficiently impressed with the quality and content of your website, we may contact you regarding ad trades, article sharing, and other promotional opportunities we are able to offer sites who have exceptional value for our visitors.

• We love finding wonderful sites offering quality work in their field on any topic. We believe good work of any kind deserves to be noticed and applauded. We also believe we are exceptionally generous in helping promote and publicize the products and services of our site partners. (There's one sure way to find out. Tell us about yourself ... and let's see if there's a match!)

We have recently purged nearly 95% of our reciprocal links ... and the discoveries made concurrent with that have brought on a major revision in the way we agree to conduct "reciprocal link exchanges."

Right now, the best way to get a link from our site is to make some worthwhile contribution to it -- usually by writing an article we choose to publish in The Enchanted Sprite. We'll give you some really nice links and exposure in exchange for that. Please see our Writer's Guidelines.

We will also give you very nice links and publicity if your site merits a showcase position in our Site Seeing feature.

As a rule for any kind of consideration on our site:

• Your site must have decent content to offer. There must be some reason why we would be willing, if not proud, to recommend your work and your site to our visitors, our Premium Members, our friends. If your site is very new, it may take you some time to build this kind of content. Please don't ask us to look at your three-page brand-new website and link to you. Without content or quality or depth ... it just wastes everybody's time. But if you have something you're proud to show off, I promise you, we will be more than delighted to explore and publicize it!

• Your site must be aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. Sites with pop-ups / pop-unders that take forever to load or that freeze our computers (!!!) will not be considered. A pop-up on your site for anything other than a subscription to your newsletter or other feature on your site (in other words something with outside advertising in it) automatically has one-strike against it.

• Your links page must be accessible from your front page. NO EXCEPTIONS.

• Your links page cannot be hosted in some kind of "off site" arrangement. (Eg. Bravenet) Our link from you cannot be any kind of redirected link. Again, no exceptions.

• The link to your links page must not be contained in a drop-down box. The Search Engines must be able to find it.

• The page you are linking to us from must not contain more than 30 - 50 links ... depending on the amount of Page Rank pass-through you are able to offer your link partners. The acceptable number of links on the links page you're proposing to place our link on varies with the level of Page Rank on the page.

• Your site must not be primarily a link farm -- a site consisting of pages and pages of links that exist almost exclusively to boost your individual rankings in the Search Engines.

• We do not automatically agree to reciprocal link exchanges. We will take a good, fair, objective look at your site ... and, no kidding, it needs to "show us something."

• If we agree to the exchange, you must have placed one or more links on YOUR site to OUR site (or sites) --

  -- on your links page. We will provide you a minimum of one link from each of the sites you link to. Those links must both be properly formatted. Everything must be correctly spelled. The wording in the anchor text must be exactly as requested. We provide the text here for your convenience.

• Occasionally, we find a site we believe merits inclusion in our Kaleidoscope section ... essentially a section of HIGHLY recommended links and sites. Inclusion in Kaleidoscope is free. It is entirely merit based. It is also entirely based on our own taste and judgment as to what constitutes "merit."
  
  There are no strings attached to a placement in Kaleidoscope beyond realizing the fact that we have done you a good turn. (However, inclusion of your site in Kaleidoscope really gets you our attention when it comes to things like ad exchanges, promotional exchanges, publicity for your classes, products, books, etc., and other trade programs and efforts which you might offer -- or which we might invite you to join. In our opinion, a Kaleidoscope site is well worth some extra time, effort, and consideration for all concerned -- visitors and site owners.)

• You must not employ "tricks" ... such as robots.txt files to "prevent PR leakage." That is a despicable and reprehensible way to treat link partners and we refuse to be associated with any websites whose webmasters choose to behave in this manner.

We encourage link exchanges and will actively participate in them ... but the very phrase "reciprocal link exchange" implies some kind of one-to-one correspondence in value. In other words, the exchange must show us some kind of mutual benefit. Proposals that get you something of value, and us nothing at all are clearly offensive -- and again, a waste of time. (Something that really annoys us.)

We make every effort to treat our own link partners with respect, to give them the credit they deserve, and we are more than willing to recommend and promote other sites of value, including our competitors. But we absolutely insist on being accorded the same treatment. We are also more than willing to resolve legitimate disputes and questions ... and do invite any necessary courteous correspondence with that aim in mind.
