I stumbled across your site by accident about a year ago and admit to being a skeptic. Over the last year or so I have been stunned by the accuracy of your tarot predictions each week. This Sunday's prediction was for the end to financial hardship. On Monday I received an offer of employment which arrived after over a year of unemployment due to illness. Not only was it a job for which I am well qualified, but also a 40% pay increase over what I was earning before I became unwell, and working in an industry I had never before considered. This not the first time you have been correct -- you've predicted major arguments, frustrations, and unexpected travel. I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't more to tarot than meets the eye!

For more than 2000 years, the legend of Atlantis has intrigued storytellers, historians and researchers. For some it is merely an interesting myth, for others it is a lost land waiting to be discovered.
Regardless of its reality, the concept of the once powerful island destroyed by its own shortcomings seems to be a permanent resident of our collective unconscious.
The first known mention of Atlantis was made around the year 355 BC by Plato in two companion works: Timaeus & Critias. He attributed his information to the Greek sage Solon, who claimed to have learned the story from the Egyptian priest Sonchis.
According to Plato, Atlantis was an island beyond the Pillars of Hercules that was greater in size than Libya and Asia Minor together.
The island's residents lived peaceful and abundant lives for many generations until they became corrupted by greed and began to war with their neighbors. Some time around 10,000 BC Atlantis was destroyed, either in punishment for its sins or as a result of a cataclysmic disaster. The story served as both a warning of the cost of corruption and as an enticement for those seeking paradise lost.
The word Atlantis is of Greek origin, but memory of a lost island seems to be widespread among many cultures. Along the North African coast, natives tell tales of Attala, a once warlike kingdom that is now under the ocean. Like Atlantis, Attala is prophesized to rise once again.
Spanish seafarers once believed in a thriving western island called Antilla or the Isle of Seven Cities. This island was often equated with Atlantis and was just as elusive. The Basques of southwestern France and northern Spain have a legend that they are the descendants of Atlantis, which they call Atlaintika.
The ancient Welsh and British Celts believed that their ancestors came from a continent that sank into the western sea, the lost paradise Avalon. Irish legend speaks of the Domnu, people of the deep sea from a land that disappeared beneath the waves. French mythology speaks of the city of Ys that was punished for its transgressions by submersion beneath the sea.
Are these scattered tales evidence of a racial memory of a long ago homeland that was destroyed at her height? And if so, are the keepers of these myths descended from the scattered survivors of the Atlantean destruction?
Knowledge of Atlantis was suppressed during the time of the Dark Ages, but interest in the legend was revived during the early exploration of the Americas. Sixteenth century mapmakers and historians even suggested that the New World was the lost continent of Atlantis or that the Native Americans were survivors of the ancient disaster.
Spanish conquistadors reported that the Aztecs had a legend that told of their migration from an island to the east called Aztlan and that the Mayans believed that their god Quetzalcoatl had come from a distant land that had endured a cataclysm.
Many who theorize about Atlantis speculate that the appearance of pyramids in both Egypt and Central America can be explained by common ancestors who carried their culture with them from their lost homeland.
