Okay. I'm about to offer several points of advice which I don't always take, 'cause sometimes a good shouting match feels like my only recourse to repeated frustration ... and if I don't get to do that I'll explode. Shouting, at least, isn't as messy as cleaning pieces of myself off the wall might be, and I do reach a point fairly soon where I can dial it back and start a dialogue instead of a diatribe.

I also know how to do this so I don't waste a lot of time holding a scream-fest when that's not really what I want to do. I can move a touchy moment into a more objective and rational exchange, even when I'm the participant who's closer to "the edge of losing it," and I do know how to choose the battlegrounds that suit me.

Most of the hairier moments in my life are between me and my webmaster ... because we're constantly in each other's way, we have very different styles of working and often very different agendas, and besides ... he knows how I get.

Still, conflict is a normal part of dealing with other people. If you're around someone enough, there are bound to be arguments, and locking horns with another person should be either something you can't avoid, something you deliberately choose to do (and there can, indeed, be moments like that), or something you know how to back out of, if necessary, before things turn really ugly.

There are also physical responses that occur when emotions run high, and, frankly not everyone is a master of self-control. It is a wiser move not to let things get out of hand -- because sometimes point-and-counterpoint moments can do exactly that!!
