Marriage demonstrates the highest level of commitment two individuals can show one another. Becoming life mates means that the two of you share a bond and that through the good and the bad, you will encourage and support one another.
One perspective that is radically changing is that marriage and the wedding day only matter to the woman and her family. Traditionally women have been the keepers of relationships, weddings, and children.
These areas are perceived as being of little concern to the husband-to-be. This thinking is extremely out-dated and detrimental to a real relationship.
If you have made the decision to unite and plant your love garden together, shouldn't everything be decided as a team right from the beginning? There is no reason to exclude men in the anticipating, planning, and participating of romantic events.
About four months before his wedding day, a very good male friend of mine admitted that he was tired of hearing about how the bride had dreamed all her life of her wedding day, and how his own views about the day did not seem to matter. Defiantly he finally said, "You know, I have dreamed all my life about this day, too!" I wonder how many of our fathers and our grandfathers felt the same way!
Weddings, births, and child rearing, in fact, all the traditional female interests, should be of interest to the men of our modern world. We have to start letting the men in! Women need to include men in these wondrous events. By laying the foundation of inclusiveness, men will be more likely to stick around for the other adult duties.
He will feel included and committed to the family. Men have been given a bad rap about neglecting family responsibilities. And it is not fair to leave them out and then expect them to come around only when we need them.
Modern romance and love is not just a female concern, it is a human concern. We all need to be more loving, more romantic, more in awe of the beauty and grace in our lives. You have been truly blessed with a beautiful world to live in, wonderful people to love, exciting things to accomplish; you just need to decide how you are going to reap your harvest. Will you choose to plant it with care and concern, tend to it with pride and persistence, and harvest it with hope and health?
Remember that the tone you set at the beginning of your relationship will determine your future happiness or disillusionment. Start your marriage off right by treating each other with mutual respect, care, and honesty and enjoy the fruits of your harvest.Page: 1 2
