You have heard it before and you will hear it again.
You have experienced it before and you will experience it again.
It can be seen amongst the tiniest humans, among animals, among businesses, creative communities " literally in any setting where beings interact.
Energy is contagious. One baby in a nursery begins to cry and the others will follow suit. One dog in a neighborhood barks and soon the others are barking in response.
One person begins to gossip in a workplace and the negative energy of this exchange begins to filter into the environment.
I have seen it happen on stage where one actor begins missing his or her lines and the other performances become less tight.
On a higher note, if a very positive person comes into the workplace and begins to share compliments, her enthusiasm will also become like a "positive virus" to her colleagues as they receive her compliments and joyousness.
I have seen how one after another, actors on stage each get more and more and more into the zone with each scene, building on the energy of their supportive cast mates.
Aesop's Fable of Androcles and the Lion tells a tale of contagious energy, where courage and kindness cause the surprising outcome in contagious, loving energy.
Androcles was a slave who fled from a cruel master. He never had enough to eat and he was expected to work far more than he was able to complete. He found his way into the wild " and into a cave where a savage, unhappy lion moaning in agony.
Androcles was afraid: this savage beast could shred him in moments. Then he saw what was causing the Lion such a problem: a tiny thorn was caught in his paw. Gently Androcles pulled the thorn loose and the Lion was so grateful for Androcles' assistance that from that day forward, he brought food to him and sheltered him from harm in his cave.
They became close friends, creating their own unique family-in-the-wild.
One day, Androcles was captured and thrown into jail for fleeing from his cruel master. He was held in jail for many days until finally he was brought to a festival where he would be ceremonially fed to the lions.
