From Dead Head to Blossom Filled

Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.

This morning my soul feels decidedly not blossom-like.

It feels more like it needs to be "dead-headed" -- a gardening term for eliminating the dried up, past their prime former blossoms so that the mother plant won't feel compelled to continue creating seeds in the now wilting, past its prime flower.

Dead heading allows the mother plant to focus on bringing forth more blooms instead of expending excess energy on the dead heads. I feed the remains of my dead headed flowers back to the soil so that each part of the plant is reused and honored.

Let's pause with that a moment.

This unplanned metaphor reached right into my dried and wilting soil to produce a refreshing "a-ha."

Just as I feed the remains of the dead headed flower back to the soil, gratitude fills my roots, my stems, my branches with much needed refreshment so that the blossoms once again take form.

It is so simple.

Why do I sometimes forget?

Let's pause again, just for a moment.

Another a-ha lurks close by. I can feel it.

It doesn't matter "why I forget" what matters it that I have chosen to remember now.

I continue to breathe in and focus upon my remembering. Contentment surrounds me, starting with my toes and the soles of my feet and sweeping upward towards my heart and mind.

Fill your heart with gratitude and contentment today by choosing to "dead head" those seeds of discontent and disenchantment from your outer branches. Release them so that you can bring forward new blossoms that serve your heart, soul, body and spirit.
