I was in for a real treat today: a coffee-sit-down in the middle of the day with a new friend. A Graphic Artist who created an advertisement for me that is appearing in a program at a local theatre was meeting me at Starbucks for coffee.

HOORAY! I was excited. We had never met in person, all our communication to this point had been via email.

Its not every day that I venture out into the community in the middle of the workday to get acquainted with someone new. I felt bold, brave and eager.

I saw myself being really intentional. This was a great opportunity. As I sat down in a cushy, comfy chair at a Starbucks across town from my house I felt completely in the lap of luxury. I even timed it so I could have a few moments of quiet, contemplative reading before my new friend arrived.

Does life get much better than this?

As I completed a chapter I looked up from my book, curious about the time. I looked up to see suspended pipes protruding from the ceiling. The music filled my spirit as I breathed in peaceful contentment as I rested my head against the chair.

I watched as people came through the door.

"No, that's a man-- that's not her."

"Nope, that's a teen--. .. that's not her."

After about 30 minutes of waiting I came to the conclusion that I must have written down the wrong date or something, or maybe she was waiting for a confirmation from me.

I went home.

And I was still filled with contentment.

It was a glorious time.

Not what I had suspected. My plans for the time at Starbucks were significantly altered AND they were still absolutely perfect.

Never once did my mind cross over into the "What happened? What is wrong with me that she decided not to come? Who has talked to her about me?"

Several hours after I got home I dropped my friend a note, suggesting I had been incorrect in my timing or date and suggesting we try again next week.

She wrote back very apologetically. "My daughter's school called and I had to pick her up. I completely forgot. SO SORRY! Can we try again tomorrow?"

I smiled and wrote back with suggestions for two other dates since tomorrow won't work for me.

I had a treat today and I will have another one right around the corner.

Does life get much better than this?

Granted, there are the occasional *filled with amazement* moments which are larger than life which appear from time to time which may appear to fill the "much better than this" category.

I believe from the soles of my feet to the top of my scalp that completely basking in moments like these: the simple, unadorned and sometimes not exactly as planned moments that allow and bring forth an increase in number in the *overflowingly filled with amazement* moments.

I had a treat today and I will have another one right around the corner. Life doesn't get much better than this.
