Venus and Mars Conjunct in Scorpio

Jupiter in Leo
It's a fairly quiet time in the sky at the moment. About the only thing worth a cursory mention is the recent square between the ongoing Venus - Mars conjunction in Scorpio and Jupiter in Leo, a constellation whose energy may have fit so quietly into the Christmas season as to go unnoticed. Both these aspects occur once (Mars) or twice (Venus) a year. It's just interesting to have it happen now.

When Venus is square to Jupiter, the mood is self-indulgent, lazy, pretentious, even wasteful, with emphasis on idleness, lavish consumption, "social graces," and extravagant spending. Often "manners" are a camouflage for resentment, contempt, or other emotions you wish to conceal or deny. You're inclined to be nice to people you don't especially like, just to avoid "problems," even if that means not standing up for yourself well.
You are not practical with your spending while this energy prevails. You can been too generous, too self-pampering, and partners, especially, can pretty much talk you into anything. Your control of the purse strings is especially loose and luxury-loving. You may be overly concerned with appearances, status, and the attention others give you. You can definitely take too much for granted ... and generally fail to really appreciate the true worth of your blessings while over-valuing "the finer things in life."
When Mars is square to Jupiter, the stage is set for problems due to over-reaction, hypocritical behavior, religious zealotry, self-righteousness, self-aggrandizement, and the aggressive support of fanatical attitudes and beliefs. A major problem, of course, is that everyone is affected by this energy now ... and the potential for exaggerated choices and actions ... even violence ... is a hallmark of this combination.
Among the things to watch for (and hopefully not get pulled into) are the waste and misuse of resources -- particularly your own physical energy, the advancement of controversial social and political beliefs, the championing of fanatical religious attitudes, a belligerent restlessness, and a clear dominance of extremist positions of many stripes.
There is also a tendency for you and others to whitewash the real motives behind your actions and public positions, covering over aims that are not altogether honorable or reliable, often with religious rhetoric to make them seem more noble, more acceptable, than they should be.
