1. When you focus primarily on your goals, you are not open to opportunities that may contribute to your broader purpose.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: Maintain a broad outlook on your life's "big picture." Open yourself up to all possibilities and talk yourself into the belief that nothing, nothing is outside of your reach.
2. Goals create a sort of "glass ceiling" effect in life. You can achieve all of the goals you set, but if you haven't uncovered your life's greater purpose, you'll never break through to achieve true happiness and peace in your life. You may become a millionaire, but still be miserable because it's not the money that will fulfill you.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: Clearly define your unique greater purpose in life; the who and how you are meant to be. Set your goals only after you've done this and put them through the "will this serve my greater purpose?" test before you implement them.
3. Goals may help you achieve what society labels as "success," but unless you know who and how you are meant to be, you won't be able to maintain true success.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: In your work in defining your greater purpose, you are also defining what success means to you: fulfilling that unique greater purpose and living the life you were meant to live. Strive for this inner success and you will satisfy your dreams and yourself..
4. Focus on a goal that you want to achieve keeps your thoughts concentrated on the fact that you don't have it yet. It's a subtle pattern of negative thinking which may sabotage your ability to achieve it.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: Always remind yourself of your greater purpose and learn to see the "big picture" in all situations in life. Remember that all the options that exist in the world are within your reach.
5. Goal driven people, generally, are controlled by the very goals they"ve set.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: Vow to be relentless in your commitment to be who and how you are meant to be. Adopt a habit of diligence so that it takes more effort to go against your greater purpose than to fulfill it. People who know their true purpose and meaning in life possess an "authentic" power which puts them in control.
6. The focus required to achieve specific goals creates a closed, inflexible way of living.
Your strategy for reducing this limitation: Use your greater purpose consistently as the foundation for goal-setting, decision-making, prioritizing, planning, ... everything you do. When you have a broad vision of your life's purpose, you free yourself to quickly and easily take advantage of new opportunities that present themselves.
Rather than having a goal that you've decided you must attain, you have a broader purpose under which any specific "goals" or objectives you have can change, be eliminated or replaced freely when you discover that something else is more in tune with your purpose. "Goals" then become tools or resources to support and nurture your purpose.
