If you are single or unattached, then you are free, free, and free to date whomever you want. Right? Unfortunately, it's not always that simple. Sometimes finding the right date, or even finding any date can easily turn what could be an exciting adventure into a horrific nightmare.

The following tips will help you get dates and eventually increase your chances of meeting the ONE...

1. Upgrade your personal hygiene and physical appearance.

I know they say it's what's on the inside that counts, but in reality many behavioral studies point to the fact that first impressions are extremely important in attracting the right person. If you don't bathe, don't wear deodorant, or don't brush your teeth daily, your chances of getting a date are greatly reduced, wouldn't you say?

If your personal hygiene is already great, try upgrading your hairstyle, your clothing attire, or something else that makes you feel great. It's amazing how people will be attracted to you when you feel fresh and new!

Also, dress according to the type of person you want to date. For instance, if you want to date a professional, dress more professionally.

2. Have a specific vision of the person you want to date.

What are the qualities of the person you want to date? What are their personality traits? What are their physical traits? What kinds of activities would you enjoy partaking in with this person? Would you prefer that this person also enjoy the same activities?

Do you want this person to have a specific career or income? Write all your preferences down and be clear about what the characteristics of the person you are going to date will be. That way, you'll be more apt to draw this person to you.

3. Put yourself out there.

Chances of meeting someone in person in your living room are pretty bleak. Join groups you can relate with. There are many to choose from including health clubs, special interest groups, dance classes, and outdoor groups, just to name a few.

It's truly amazing just how many available single people are out there looking for a date and/or a mate. Who knows, you may even have fun getting out of your living room.

4. Let go of any fear of failure or fear of rejection.

There's a perfect person out there just for you! So don't take it personally if you meet a few lemons along the way. As soon as you stop fearing failure and rejection, doors automatically open for you, in that you start taking risks you would never have originally taken in order to meet new people.

If that person doesn't want you, someone else will! If this date goes sour, the next one may be the best date of your life!
