Dynamic Principles to Make
Your Wildest Dreams Come True
Know and accept your weaknesses and faults (we all have them), but even more so your strengths, abilities and gifts. Build on your strengths and try to minimize or improve on your weaknesses; however work more on your strengths.
An honest, objective analysis of yourself is the first step in preparing you for success and realizing your dreams. Celebrate you for just being you, a unique creation. "Each one of us has been uniquely created by God and within each of us, we have certain special "instincts" or "natural tendencies/strengths/inclinations" towards certain things.

How to Inventory Your Personal Assets
Have you ever noticed how, at this time of year, there are lists and lists circulating? You can find a list of the 20 best films, the 10 worst dressed people, the 50 most interesting books. In addition to spending some of your spare time reading through these lists, how about taking some personal time to create your own list -- of your 10 most important assets?
It may seem unusual for you, a member of the Sandwich Generation, to concentrate on yourself instead of on the needs of the family around you, but allow yourself to focus on and embrace your own development at this pivotal time.
Creating your asset inventory will give you a leg up on beginning the new year from a position of power, but how do you begin? To help you, here's a short list to help you focus on your assets - not the financial ones but the personal strengths you own. Use this process to discover some of your hidden passions. Reflect on your answers or discuss them with a trusted friend as you create an expanded sense of yourself.

Take Your EQ With You When You Travel Abroad
I just got back from a trip to Russia, and someone asked me for my impressions. What did I expect, not expect, etc.
There was a lot to process after this vacation, a river cruise on the waterways of the czars. We flew to Moscow, spending 3 days there, and then set sail up the Volga to St. Petersburg, stopping at villages, towns and islands along the way, where we spent 3 more days.
It wasn't really my first time out of the US, as I speak for cruise lines and have been all over the Caribbean. Thus I was familiar with ship travel, customs, and basic ship procedures.

How to Survive International Travel (and Thrive)
I recently returned from two weeks in Russia. We were on a guided tour, and well taken care of, including being warned as we left the River Cruise and the gentle country villages to enter the big cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg to quit being relaxed and get alert about our money, credit cards, etc.
Cruise guests argued if this could happen in the US and I wondered where they'd been. Yes, it can happen anywhere, particularly in big cities in tourist areas. Why? There is what the police call "opportunity." That is, there are people, with money, who are distracted. Picture yourself in a crowd of 50 crammed side-by-side waiting to see the famous peacock clock in the Hermitage start turning.

You're A Mathematical Genius, You Know!
This may come as a surprise to you. But the truth is, you really are good at mathematics. You see, every day you solve complex problems by breaking them down into tiny little "baby steps." And just like the world's most powerful computer or the greatest ever mathematical prodigy, it's this step-by-step process that enables you to do practically anything.

How to Manage a Transition Successfully
I work with clients in transition. Some of the transitions are chosen, such as retirement. Others are involuntary transitions such as losing a job or being forced to change careers because of a disability.
We all have a different "set point" for our ability to handle changes. It has to do with our natural temperaments, and also the way change and ambiguity were handled when we were children. Why "ambiguity?" Because more than anything else, transitions involve the unknown.

Are We Talking Ourselves to Death?
Is there a link between brain cancer and cell phone usage?
There's a report out from the Environmental Working Group on cell phone safety, and the news is not good. Cell phone safety is already under fire in many states and cities because of the distraction they are when people use them while driving.
Many jurisdictions have banned their use by drivers when a car is in motion, in traffic, after a shocking set of statistics showing how often cell phone use was a factor in serious and fatal accidents. Cell phones are convenient, yes -- but there's no escaping the fact that they are also deadly. That's one kind of health risk no one needs.

Fat Food ... Fat Ass ... Fat Head?
More Evidence Against
The Wisdom of the Western Diet
In the science-speak that often accompanies studies -- and papers on studies -- an article in Science Daily begins with this sentence. "Rats fed a high-fat diet show a stark reduction in their physical endurance and a decline in their cognitive ability after just nine days, a study by Oxford University researchers has shown." In other words, rats on a high-fat diet quickly become stupid and lazy. What implication might this have for humans?

Becoming Your Best Self
Can We Talk?
One of the easiest ways to complicate our lives is in the area of interpersonal relationships, and the closer the people are to us, the more complicated it can get! Misunderstandings arise in the blink of an eye: a poor choice of words, an unconscious gesture, an incorrect interpretation, sometimes a deliberate attack.

Possibilities to Consider When You're Feeling Down
Seems as though it's easy to get down these days. While the reasons are legion, the story is pretty much the same: try as you may, being up, on top, all the time can be a chore. When that happens -- and for most of us, it does -- here are some things you may want to consider.

Creative Writing For Analytical Minds
We all understand that creative writing is produced by creative people. We mean that people with the right kind of minds and the right interests can write interesting poems, stories and plays. Many of us enjoy reading that kind of writing, and some of us even play at writing it. We don't expect creative writing to solve real world problems.

43 Reasons to Deliver Your Content With Lists
Lists don't prioritize, segment, take sides or bias any one item; but rather allow you to simply get it all down on paper. And sometimes that's the hardest part of writing. Because if you don't write it down, it never happened.
