How To Attract Hummingbirds
One good way to attract Hummingbirds is by planting a Hummingbird garden. In addition to providing them a natural diet, a hummer garden is an excellent way to attract birds to your nearby feeder since hummingbirds feed by sight on regularly followed routes. This is called traplining. Their inquisitive nature will quickly lead them to investigate any possible new source of food.
Hummers, like most birds, have virtually no sense of smell, the flowers that attract them tend to have little or no fragrance, apparently directing their resources instead toward high visibility and nectar production.

Finding Your Power and Passion
Do you remember those times when you were doing something that you truly loved and felt you did well - those times when you totally lost track of the hours flying by, when you were totally immersed, totally fulfilled? Czikszentmihalyi calls that "flow", I call it "power and passion". The degree to which we can find that in our personal and professional lives is the degree we can live out of our power and passion.
The way to find our way back in to feeling that flow is to examine the situations in our lives where we were doing something we loved and felt we did it well. Those situations can be analyzed to find the consistent themes and conditions consistent across all circumstances. Start by writing out ten situations - they must be times when you a) did something you really enjoyed and b) felt you did it well. Describe what you did using verbs as much as possible. Now go back and analyze each situation.

Aromatherapy Begins at Home
Love a clean, fresh-smelling home, but you're wary of spraying chemical air fresheners all over the place ... and $$$ for those lovely aromatherapy candles-in-jars just aren't in the budget? Well, here are some ideas I came across from How Stuff Works. (One of the most interesting sites on the internet. No kidding, I could play here for hours!)
You know how great your house smells when there's a home-made apple pie baking in the oven? (Ok, maybe you'll need to think back to how great your grandmother's house smelled then!!) Or in the winter when there's spiced cider mulling in the kitchen? Well, it's the spices in those things that make the scent, and you can recreate that great fragrance any time you want by letting a collection of spices not-quite-simmer on the stove.

Who Is Your Inner Child?
Sadly, for a while the idea of your Inner Child became the butt of jokes in sitcoms and in the monologues of people doing stand-up routines onstage. I say "sadly" because your Inner Child doesn't need ridicule and he or she certainly doesn't need any more grief. Life -- and people in your past, and maybe in your present -- hand out enough of that already.
Grown-ups making fun of a child isn't funny. It violates one of the first rules of life you learned as an actual child in your neighborhood relationships or on the school playground: "Go pick on somebody your own size." Of course, picking on anybody period isn't something to encourage, but you know what I mean. I'm glad to see that charmless piece of comedy has faded. I hope it didn't cause too much damage while it was around -- to you or anyone else.

Keeping Love Alive
Romance is wonderful. Everyone should have a healthy dose of it as part of their daily life. In fact, romance is what many people mean when they talk about love. In time, however, most of us learn there are more dimensions to love than romance.

Put Yourself on Your To-Do List
Most lives are too busy ... full of commitments, responsibilities, "jobs" -- both the kind that pay you money and the kind that don't, people who need and expect your help, stress, aggravation, and judgments about how you're doing at this constant juggling act. What seems to be in short supply are things like time, money, help, satisfaction, praise, privacy, sympathy and self-regard. Notice how essential the items on one list are to maintaining and coping with ... the items on the other.
If there is one message I think needs to be emblazoned somewhere in the sky where everyone can see ... and maybe heed ... it, it's this: Simplify your life ... and take care of yourself!! It may be a sad but true fact that self-care is first and foremost your responsibility. It may be your biggest responsibility. And the fact that it's sad (or maybe regrettable is a better word) doesn't make it any less true. Unless you are an invalid (or extremely rich), you will not have a host of people standing in line to help you and make your life easier.

Conditions of Happiness
Happy vs Unhappy -- Do We Have A Choice?
Most everyone is in the process of seeking greater happiness. We are each involved in the search for feeling good inside our lives and bodies. What may come as a surprise is that many people who struggle with depression, emotional eating, stress eating, or some other addictive behavior, are really just searching for a way to feel happier. They feel some sort of unease in their emotional state and physical body, and then reach for something to numb the discomfort or make them feel better.
There is no crime in wanting to feel better. Your body is meant to be aligned with thoughts and actions that feel good. If you are currently not feeling good inside your life or your body, then certainly, continuing with emotional or stress eating, or some other addiction, is one valid choice to get through the day.

Secrets for Being HAPPY!
One of my favorite songs is Bobby McFerrin's refrain, "Don't Worry, Be Happy". I recently had the opportunity to observe people's reactions when a highway was closed because of an accident ahead.
As we waited, I watched as some listened to radios, a few began tossing a Frisbee, other's seemed to be working or reading, and some opted for a quick nap. But, there were also a handful who were clearly agitated and angry. Pacing about, swearing, and upset, they decided that the best response to this event, which none of us could control, was to be very unhappy.
I was reminded of Abraham Lincoln's comment that, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." The following are my Top 10 Tips to increase happiness in your life:

Benefits of Play
Play is extremely important for humans from birth to death. Play is not meant to be just for children. It is a form of release and connection that can tap the creativity and can allow you the chance to connect with your inner child and the inner child of others.
Play is a state of mind, but it is also a state of body, emotion, and spirit. Yes ...it is something you do (playing games, swinging, playing "tag", playing with dolls), but it is also something you watch others do, and gain pleasure from simply watching. It is often described as a time when we feel most alive, yet it is something we take for granted and may forget to do.
It can be entirely positive, or can be dramatic (such as acting out a thrilling or suspenseful activity). Play can be used in many ways to not only stimulate creativity but as a way to transform negative emotions. We are hardwired as adults to engage in play, and it is crucial to our vitality to spend time with play each day.
