Sometimes the Tarot gets it wrong - or does it? There may be other reasons why the cards don't always answer the questions put to them.

Sometimes the Tarot cards do not seem to answer the question you asked them. When this happens, it is easy to blame the reader, assuming that they can't interpret the cards properly, or don't really know what they mean.

Although there may be occasions when this is indeed the case, if you have consulted a reputable reader, or one with many years experience, it is highly unlikely that the fault lies with them. It may be, for instance, that you have not phrased your question correctly and the reader has misunderstood what it was you wanted to know. This is especially easy to do when readings are conducted by e-mail, or any other method where you are not present with the reader when the cards are being consulted.

If the reader misunderstands your question, the result of the reading will still be accurate, but it will not answer the question you asked. However, it may well be that this misinterpretation of your question by the reader was "fated" - i.e., it was considered necessary (by whatever "authority" you feel controls the cards) that this particular question be answered at this particular point in your life, rather than the question you actually asked.

If you did phrase your question well and it is still not answered adequately, or some totally different question is answered, then it may be that, again, the result is the correct one for you at the particular time you posed the question. The Tarot will always give you the answer that you need to know, rather than the answer you want to know, regardless of whether or not it is connected with the original question.

Bear in mind that the Tarot delves deep into your subconscious mind and if there is a question hidden in there that you are avoiding asking, but which the cards feel you need to ask, they will often answer that question rather than the one you did ask!

Sometimes the cards will not answer a question because they do not feel it is the right time for you to be asking it, or because the answer is as yet unknown or undecided. Always keep in mind the fact that the Tarot cards are not intended to be seen as "fortune-telling devices" and, although some readers are able to use them to predict the future, not all of them can, or will. Many readers prefer to suggest certain possible courses of action, perhaps mentioning the probable consequences of each, but still leaving it up to you to decide which of these paths you wish to take.

There are times when, no matter how hard the reader tries, nothing sensible can be obtained from the cards at all. Sometimes just leaving the question a few hours, or days, can rectify the situation, but often it can't and the reader has to abandon the reading altogether. The cards do not always throw-up the answer to an alternative, unasked question - sometimes they feel that the questioner is at a stage in their life when they need to find their own answers, rather than consult the Tarot or any other oracle to provide them.

Although this is difficult for the questioner to accept, it is essential that they do accept it in order to progress along the right pathway at this stage in their life. It may only be necessary to wait a month or so before the cards will be more obliging and ready to answer a question.

If, therefore, a reader tells you that they are unable to answer your question at this moment in time, try not to be too disappointed. Accept that this is the right result for you at this time and perhaps ask the reader when it would be appropriate for you to consult them again. Often the cards will at least be prepared to offer this information, although there is of course no guarantee, they may choose not to if they do not wish you to know.

Although it can be frustrating when the cards do not answer the question you wanted answering, you need to remember that what you want and what you need are not always the same thing and this applies in Tarot reading just as much as it does in life.

In other words, the Tarot won't always answer the question you asked, but they will always answer the question you should have asked, if indeed such a question exists.
