It's time to render judgment on some phase, project, relationship, experience, or level of learning in your life ... and bring it to a close in preparation for moving on to something else soon. Indeed, the energy of "passing judgment," rendering a verdict, or finding the kernel of meaning and truth you were meant to acquire as a result of this time in your life that's ending ... is where you need to focus attention for a while.

Along with bringing matters to a close and distilling the value of your effort into something pithy and useful, you can look forward to a time of awakening, renewal, and renaissance. It's possible a change of consciousness can come from this -- for there is a long history of development and participation implied by the appearance of this card and its energy. You may have worked with the "theme" of this time in many different guises and circumstances. Now, you need to define your benefits ... and new wisdom .. and get ready welcome "the next step."

Summing up can be a time of rest and hiatus, the figurative sigh of satisfaction that lets you release the old and draw in the new -- just as your controlled breathing does in meditation. Starting a new chapter in a book, a new set of courses in a schedule of study, a new level of responsibilities in your work, or moving on to a more intimate and exciting texture in a relationship can renew and reinvigorate your soul. Confusion

You may find yourself caught in a welter of indecision, confusion, stagnation, and perhaps "excuses" ... all of which are crowding out the clarity of truth you need to hone in on, all of which could affect the important partnerships and relationships in your life. Don't make choices in haste or under pressure. Ground yourself. Ask sincerely and directly for the answers you want, and then listen quietly while these make themselves known to you.

Be direct and candid in your dealings with other people ... especially your loved ones. You may need more information about an important decision ... and postponing action until you have the facts might be your wisest option.

Alternatively, you may not know exactly what you want ... or the right course to follow -- which needs a different sort of remedy. In this case, step back, re-examine your problem, and clarify your priorities.

On a more sinister note, this card can indicate you are being misled -- either with incorrect information or by someone who is deliberately deceiving you or keeping you in the dark. Also, you may need to scrutinize your own honesty and be sure you are asking clearly for what you want -- not sneaking around looking for some backdoor means to get your own way.

Most people respond well to straight-talk and sincerity. Of course, you have to know what you want, how you feel, and what you'd like to accomplish before you can even offer this to them. Coming up with this information yourself is usually more than half the battle.

Confusion

The next few days may be chaotic and upsetting, as you look for solutions to some financial concern, economic problem, or material dilemma that seems to have no quick way out of difficulties or inconvenience. You may be disturbed to the point you feel you just can't accomplish anything -- or at least that you can't accomplish anything until you get this problem fixed.

This may be yet another round of a problem you've been grappling with for a while. If so, you need to rethink your concerns and priorities ... because trying the same old tactics are apt to only net you the same familiar results. This problem seems to have enough history behind it, that you feel locked into difficulties that just have no good choices to offer.

But the pressure isn't going to let up for a while ... and in the end you may be forced to make a decision prematurely or accept a solution that is far from optimal. Unless it's substantially different, though, from what you've done before -- as I said earlier, chances are it's only another band-aid on a problem that needs a lot more than that to get it healed for good.
