Innovative ideas sometimes arrive when you least expect them. Listen to what you are saying to yourself when you aren't doing anything special. Pay attention to your own "mind talk" when you are driving, taking a shower, riding the elevator, doing the dishes, or settling down to sleep for the night.

Better still, inspire yourself. Provide the right opportunity. Take a walk ... one long enough for your mind to start wandering, playing with possibilities, and bringing up words and pictures for you to examine. If you practice it regularly, you can develop this into a reliable skill ... and turn thirty minutes of exercise (which is good for you anyway!) into a brainstorming session that will hand you a dozen worthwhile new ideas every time you do it.
