You may also go through a coping exercise where you must balance things that are both well-known to you and unfamiliar. In other words, some new experience, adventure, wrinkle, or little-pothole-in-the-highway-of-life may appear to grace your world ... and you will need to integrate its demands into the overall fabric of your daily world.

Succeeding in life is about balance ... and navigating a constant, often difficult, set of adjustments. As with any balancing act, you need to continually compensate for changes, shifts, twitches ... and glitches. It takes skill, practice, and, yes, it takes courage. And you have to pay attention.

Examining inner values

You may need to examine your conduct in a relationship that wants adjustment. You may need to confront someone who is too one-sided in his attitudes and conduct, who takes advantage of others (possibly you!!) financially, who takes too much for granted in the ways others must work to provide for him and his comforts, and who is unacceptably wasteful of time, energy, and other resources.

Chances are you know who this person is ... or the issues this energy describes, but it also wouldn't hurt to consider your own conduct and see if possibly you are inviting this experience into your life, either though your own relaxed and overly tolerant attitudes -- or by doing this to someone else, yourself.

You might also consider whether you are doing too much for someone who should be taking better care of himself ... or possibly whether you need more compensation for the value you provide.

A time for serious contemplation about your use of money and material assets may be at hand. Also, you may need to re-evaluate the role money, possessions, resources, and security play in your life and your choices. You may be experiencing a split between what you want and believe inwardly and the way you talk and act "for public consumption." If this discomfort is serious enough ... or this division becomes crippling, you obviously need to give this matter some careful attention.

You may also be refusing to listen to wise counsel and good advice regarding your financial life, security matters, possessions, money management, or the power you have over physical resources -- including your own time and energy. You may feel unhappy, unappreciated, victimized, even "used" ... but not acting (or not using your own guidance) to change the situation.
