Parasitical attitudes
The next few days may present you with a close-up chance to witness over-riding concern with luxury and status, snobbishness, pretentiousness, and vanity. You may have to cope with someone who is helpless, lazy, impractical, wasteful, or irresponsible. Or you may have to confront these qualities in yourself.
This suggests an encounter with someone who blames others for her problems, stubbornly refuses to assume responsibility for her own life and actions, is poisonously status conscious, or who wants others to "take care" of her. Again, these may be facets of your personality that rise up and demand attention. Regardless of how this experiences takes shape in your life, notice your response when it arrives.
An additional thought to ponder:
This card depicts a very childish or short-sighted attitude regarding life's practical responsibilities. The energy here wants to be pampered, coddled, and provided for without effort. Often it shows up as a woman who doesn't work -- or doesn't want to, as someone whose self-image is way too attached to her economic status and love of convenience and luxury, or someone who can't or won't take care of herself.
It's also possible you are causing yourself physical problems from the stress and concern you feel over money, etc., which is not the way to safeguard your health. The natural caring, gentle, nourishing energy of this card's uncorrupted expression needs to be restored in your life.

What you pursue, you don't get.
But what you allow to grow slowly in its own way, comes to you.

Inadequate rewards
Today's theme ... and the experiences that await you just around the corner ... bear directly on the whole theory behind providing work in exchange for money so that you can then purchase the goods and services you need to support yourself. It suggests someone involved in the structures of your life is either being cheated by being paid inadequately for the work he or she does, or is cheating someone else by doing half-hearted and slipshod work while still charging a pretty hefty price for what he provides.
This could indicate you are working far too hard in return for a rather miserable paycheck. It suggests someone is failing to pay you what you are worth in a transaction that involves possessions, material goods, an exchange of services, etc. It further suggests you are being taken for granted, "used," or not fairly appreciated by someone for whom you provide excellent service.
It could also imply you'll discover someone has charged you "full price" for careless and shoddy work. You may learn you are very unhappy with a purchase you've made ... or find you've been ripped off. You may find yourself actively conned, swindled, or robbed.
In the worst scenario, of course, you are the one who is cheating someone else, skirting the rules, trying to "pull a fast one," and not paying someone what you rightfully owe him. So ... consider this a warning, to either keep your eyes and ears open (and, as the buyer, beware!), to insist on adequate payment for the work you produce, or to get your act together and pony up what you owe someone for what he has given you.
Whatever the scenario ... you might be wise to remember your Karma.
An additional thought to ponder:
There is no free lunch. If someone is cheating you ... you have a responsibility to help him "correct" the error. If you are cheating someone else ... remember, what goes around, comes around again. So watch out for that backswing.

Each man takes care that his neighbor shall not cheat him.
But a day comes when he begins to care that he does not cheat his neighbor.
Then all goes well -- he has changed his market-cart into a chariot of the sun.

Redefining Your Sense of Self
In the near future, you may discover you've made a shift in your abstract values ... maybe on a small point, but enough to bring you a new sense of purpose, a new feeling of confidence, or a new perspective regarding you and your handling of assets ... including money. Often this card, when applied to financial matters, indicates the release of some idea that tied your sense of "who you are" too closely to the balance in your bank account or the numbers on your paycheck.
Events may conspire soon to show you that you and your values define the role of money in your life ... not the other way around. Your worth is a structure of the inner self, independent of how the rest of the world "keeps score." The way you use money often tells the outer world a lot about who you "really are inside." And in the days ahead -- perhaps even today -- you may be ready to make an amended and wiser statement along these lines.
Today's affirmation:
I am secure in my values, in my value of myself, and in my ability to use the things of value in my life wisely.

Real richness is in how you spend your money.
