The Tarot's advice to help you live a life with conscious meaning.
Today's Theme for Daily Life
Standing fast
You may have to stand up for a matter on which you feel strongly ... and have the courage of your convictions not to cave in or back down under pressure. In a difference of opinion with a partner you may have to firmly decide not to compromise or settle for less than you want or deserve. In a competitive situation or on a moral issue, you may have to take a stand and hold your ground against a challenge.
Of course this card could also be suggesting that you should not compromise or settle for "whatever you can get" in a situation where that option has begun to suggest itself. It's time to trust your common sense, honor your vision of what you want ... and hold tight to what you value.
An extra thought to ponder:
Standing up for yourself may not be easy. It's tempting to overlook the possibility that another person may want to do you harm, would eagerly take unfair advantage of any opening to do so, or may be strictly out for "Number One" ... without regard to social niceties like courtesy or conscience. But the practice of not letting yourself get pushed around is an important one to establish. It's a tactic of self-defense ... and sometimes you just have to look at it that way.

This above all: to thine own self be true.

Today's Theme for Relationships
Heartache renewed
Expect to run into an "old familiar problem" in an important relationship soon. If you stop and think about it for a minute, you may already know what this is likely to be.
There's not much of a "good spin" to put on this one. Over the next few days you may have to handle deep disappointment, mistreatment, injustice, regret, hurt feelings, bitter memories, and even meanness and cruelty ... deliberately aimed your way. That fact can hurt as much as anything.
This card, in perhaps a more benign expression, can indicate pessimism, remorse, dissention, confusion, quarreling ... usually prompted by unhappy memories or something you've been through before. So while it isn't much fun this time through either, at least you've survived it in the past ... and know how to deal with it now. Either way, it's one of those moments to get past and be done with!!
An extra piece of advice:
Being hurt repeatedly in the same ways by the same person may not be such a painful surprise the second, third, tenth, eighteenth time it happens. But it can carry a lot of baggage in self-recrimination ... knowing you should have been more vigilant, more protective of yourself, less trusting. In the end, only you can make the changes that will change the situation.

True happiness must have the tinge of sorrow outlived, the sense of pain softened by the mellowing years, the chastening of loss that in the wondrous mystery of time transmutes our suffering into love and sympathy with others.

The Tarot's advice to help you work with issues of
worth, value, survival, practicality, and pleasure ...

Today's Theme for Money and Practical Concerns
No joy
This powerful card indicates emotional barrenness. Here in the center of your financial life at the moment, it suggests you have upsetting, disappointing circumstances involving money to handle over the next few days. It's possible that some substantial connection between enjoyment and money is lacking now. It's also possible that money ... and spending ... and "things" ... just don't interest you or bring you much happiness at the moment.
But usually there is a deeper discontent to manage when this card shows up -- regardless of the context. Finances, money, possessions, investments, a lack of love, and deep emotional loss are all combined in this message. It's possible that money is a problem (or worse, being used as a leveraging tool or weapon) in a situation that ought to contain love -- but doesn't.
You may find you have tried to substitute "things," money, income, and material status for "love" in your life ... and are predictably disappointed with the results. You may be having to pay so much attention to the things you own ... that there's no room left for spontaneity, creativity, happiness, or true emotional connection in your world.
You may receive a message from life in the next few days that links "earning money" with "earning love" -- or "having money" with "having love." This card asks that you examine the role, values, and connections you have between money and love in your life presently ... to investigate ways in which these important areas of experience are not working at all as they should.
An extra piece of advice:
This card also indicates the possibility of dealing with false values, making a show of material generosity or extravagance to cover over a profound lack of emotional intimacy, or even worse, it can point to material stinginess as a way of demonstrating the absence of love that someone prefers not to highlight directly.

Money is the most egalitarian force in society. It confers power on whoever holds it.
