• What's your first reaction when you have to cope with someone who is critical, negative, or unfair? Do you try to reason with him? Do you strike back? Do you say nothing and just seethe? Do you fret and feel guilty for days? Do you just try to shut it all out and act like it doesn't bother you?

• How about this one ... do you stop and ask yourself why someone would behave like that? This strategy alone could set you free from ever worrying again about what such a person thinks of you. It could also make you rejoice that you're not him.

This is a tough card. There's no two ways around it. It generally means you've come to the end of a significant illusion and are having to adjust your thinking in a mighty big way to cope with circumstances or information that is painful, harsh, heart-breaking, or disastrous. It suggests you may be handling a significant disappointment ... either fresh in present time or in repercussions from an incident in the past.

Often the hardest part of any major crisis is accepting what happened. And it may be that something in the next few days triggers memories or questions from a past incident that need to be reviewed further ... and put to rest either more fully, again, or once and for all.

Or it can bring the undeniable realization that something you've believed in, counted on, and maybe worked hard for ... for a long time ... has handed you back nothing but disappointment for your efforts.

As I said, this realization can be extraordinarily bitter ... and hearing that ultimately this is the first stage of important new beginnings may not hold much weight on balance -- for the time being.

Over the next few days you may have to handle deep disappointment, mistreatment, injustice, regret, hurt feelings, bitter memories, and even meanness and cruelty ... deliberately aimed your way over something that affects your economic conditions, your financial well-being, your possessions, income sources, investments, and money management practices. That fact can hurt as much as anything.

This card, in perhaps a more benign expression, can indicate pessimism, remorse, dissention, confusion, quarreling ... and learning something you wish you didn't know. Either way, it's one of those moments to get past and be done with!!
